Updates for the Week of January 9, 2023

Good Evening:

We hope everyone had a great weekend. Just a quick reminder that off-season workouts begin tomorrow. Please see below for more information sent in our previous blast.

The 2023 Off-Season will begin on Monday, January 9, 2023. We want to allow everyone the opportunity to transition back to the routine of school this week before we officially start our off-season.

Workouts

  • Who: Anyone planning on playing football in fall 2023 and NOT currently enrolled in Personal Fitness or participating in a Winter sport for Chantilly HS
  • What: Strength Training Sessions
  • When: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3:10 pm-4:15 pm
  • Where: Chantilly HS weight room
  • Why: A year-long commitment to strength training is necessary for all athletes who wish to be competitive as individuals and as a program.

Off-Season Plans

Our off-season will begin solely with a focus on strength training. The expectation is that all athletes not in Personal Fitness or playing a winter sport for Chantilly attend all three sessions a week. Although the season seems far off, success in the fall requires year-round commitment and slow, steady, consistent progress. Successful teams train hard and together year-round. Sessions are Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3:10-4:10. Competitive programs do not simply show up in the summer and hope for the best. A strong strength program is only the first step to success in the fall, but it is essential. Attendance will be taken each session and tracked throughout the off-season. Please see below for information regarding our off-season point system.

Enrolling in Personal Fitness is the easiest way to strength train consistently and with teammates. Since 2018, we have averaged over 90% enrollment in PFit with eligible football players(sophomores through seniors). There is a direct correlation between success on the field since 2019 and the increase in football player enrollment in PFit.

We will eventually begin our ELITE Club leadership/culture meetings, and in the spring, we will conduct off-season practices ("Green Days") and attend a camp in June. We will share more details about Green Days and our camps in the coming months.

Off-Season Point System

Please take a moment to review our Off-Season Point System. We established these criteria following the 2017 season to further incentivize participation in off-season activities. However, we have been fortunate that most of our athletes have been intrinsically motivated to do well in recent years; therefore, the leaderboard only served as an additional form of healthy competition and accountability.

The concept is simple: do right and earn points. Outside of losing points for negative behaviors, this system is based entirely on rewarding positive behaviors, not punishing negative behaviors. Over the years, several athletes have provided feedback regarding incentives/rewards, and that has helped shape the criterion. The most frequently identified incentive was the selection of equipment and jersey numbers; therefore, among other rewards and recognition throughout the off-season, the top point earners will have the first choice of equipment and jersey numbers.

There are plenty of opportunities to rise (or fall) on the leaderboard throughout the off-season. Please find the Scoring Criteria here.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Chantilly Football!

Families and athletes in the class of 2023, thank you for the support, passion, and dedication you have continually demonstrated over the past four years! You made many contributions on and off the field, and we will miss you! This blast will be the last sent via the Remind Text system to those families in the 2023 class. If you have younger football players, please elect to receive alerts for their corresponding class.

Updates for the Week of November 14, 2022

Good Evening:

This is always the hardest update to send: end-of-season information. We are incredibly proud of the effort given by the 2022 Chantilly Chargers. The senior class selflessly led the program with tenacity and pride. Leadership isn't easy, but the young men in the class of 2023 took the challenge head-on and helped the program do what many did not think was possible, earn the right to play in Week 11. The class of 2023 has been a part of four straight playoff appearances, a Region Championship appearance, a 3-1 record vs "The Team West Down 50", and, more importantly, demonstrated that "WE football" is far greater than "me" football. Thank you, seniors: you will be missed. I am proud to welcome you to the fraternity that is Tilly Football alumni.

Immediately after school tomorrow, Monday, November 14, we will have a final team meeting and collect all issued equipment. All players who have not yet turned in equipment/participated in the playoff game should plan on attending. We will work quickly to collect and dismiss. Please see previous blasts for more details.

  • Plan to return all issued equipment: helmet, shoulder pads, lock, jerseys, pants, belts, etc.

Players should bring a bag to gather their personal belongings. We WILL DISCARD anything left behind. The wrestling team deserves a clean team room, so please plan on staying until you are checked out by a coach. I will collect the helmets and shoulder pads during Personal Fitness to accelerate the process.

We hate to conclude the 2022 season, but all great things must come to an end. It has been an honor.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Chantilly Football.

Updates for the Week of October 31, 2022 (sorry for the delay)

Good Afternoon:

I apologize for the delayed update.

  • Freshmen and Developmental will travel to Madison this evening.
  • Varsity will host tomorrow (senior night).

Again, we have been asked to seek volunteers. We were drastically understaffed for last week's ticket takers. Please consider volunteering to work the gate, especially if you are the parent/guardian of a freshman or sophomore. Activities' staff had to work tickets, thus creating shortages/issues elsewhere.

***VOLUNTEER HERE***

Please see below (last week's blast) for information regarding end-of-season procedures and expectations:

End-of-Season Information

The season has flown by, so here are some details regarding end-of-season procedures for your planning purposes.

Should we make the playoffs, athletes do not need/cannot attend tryouts for winter sports while participating in another season. Per state and FCPS policy, accommodations will be made for athletes who wish to participate in winter sports upon the conclusion of our season.

  • Uniforms and equipment must be turned in by those who will not be on the playoff roster.
  • All belongings must be cleaned out of lockers.
  • We will have to issue Financial obligations for missing equipment/cloth. We've issued every player approximately $1,000 worth of gear.
  • ATHLETES must turn in their equipment; we cannot credit an athlete with the return of gear left in the locker room.
  • PLEASE NOTE: we cannot hold onto personal belongings! After a week, we will discard unclaimed items left behind.

For Varsity/Developmental:

Following the conclusion of the varsity season (whenever that may be), we will have a final meeting the following Monday afternoon. That will include locker cleanout, equipment return, awards voting, etc.

Freshmen

Freshmen will clean out lockers/return equipment immediately following their final game.

Banquet

A program-wide banquet will take place in December. All members of the program are encouraged to attend. Not only is it a celebration, but for families of underclassmen, we also share important information regarding the off-season.

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly football!

Good Evening:

Reminder, developmental players will attend practice tomorrow afternoon. We will dismiss them from practice at 4:45, so they can have a chance to eat something before traveling to Robinson. Players who can't leave and come back should plan on bringing something small to eat between practice and the game.

The busses are expected at 6 pm. Players should be in the locker room ready to travel by 5:50.

Buttons and Team Ties

Thanks to our team mothers, we have headshot buttons available for purchase. There are also Chantilly neckties available for purchase ($20). We hope everyone is enjoying Labor Day weekend! Thank you to everyone who came out Thursday night to cheer on the squad! DMGB to the tune of 42-0!

Fundraising

Fundraising is a necessary evil. Unfortunately, a small portion of the program has been carrying the load thus far. As we previously shared, each athlete's goal is to bring in $500 through fundraising efforts. We are not suggesting that families need to or should contribute that much themselves.

We have several options to contribute:

Donations

    • Our online donation site100% of the proceeds go to the program.
    • Cash or check donations made out to Chantilly HS memo football.
    • If you do not have friends and family who can contribute to the effort through this site, see below for a traditional "get out in the community and sell stuff" fundraiser we all know and love!

Coupon Card Sales

  • This is a traditional fundraiser. Robinson's football team, a comparable program, raised almost $30,000 using this fundraiser with the same company.
  • We keep 80% of the money raised.
  • This is an excellent option for those who do not have family or friends who can donate directly to the program via the donation site
  • 126 players have signed up for the fundraiser; 57 have sold 0 cards.
  • Of the 57, only nine have contributed to the donation fundraiser.
  • Nearly 40% of the athletes in our program have not contributed.
  • We want to avoid having a fundraiser blitz day. Please get out and sell...and let us not speak of fundraising again...until next year :)

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly Football!

THE DEVELOPMENTAL SCRIMMAGE IS CANCELED

Unfortunately, Falls Church called today and said they do not have the numbers to play a Developmental scrimmage tomorrow night. So the sophomores and juniors who would have traveled will stay the entire practice rather than get dismissed early.

Freshmen should report to the team locker room ASAP after school. The buses will aim to leave by 4 pm. You are encouraged to pack extra water and a healthy snack/meal. Don't forget your practice jersey.

Varsity/Developmental

  • We will follow our usual practice schedule Monday through Wednesday this week.
  • Get to Ms. Bishop early if you need treatment.
  • Our team moms are working to organize a team meal for Wednesday night. With a short week, our athletes must get out to practice ASAP.
  • Game Day will be Thursday due to the holiday.

Fundraiser App Instructions/Meeting Reminder

Good Morning:

Please see below for information about the fundraiser and tonight's meeting. We all want the meeting to be quick, so please download the app before the meeting!

Our fundraiser card sale is a "hybrid" effort; we will have some traditional, physical cards that can be sold, and we will also have a virtual option. The card/discounts are the same. The discounts can be found here.

The card includes brands/companies/services that are available nationwide, so family and friends across the country can support the program and actually benefit from the purchase. :)

Whether selling physical, virtual, or both, players need to download the app to track their progress. Instructions for doing so can be found here.  Please download the app before the meeting.

The online donations page is also a great way for friends and family to both support and learn about the program.

Parking at Falls Church

Please see below from Falls Church regarding parking. Our freshmen and Developmental scrimmage there on Monday, August 29.

Falls Church is currently under renovations and our parking situation is not ideal. Please notify your buses, coaches, and parents.

1st picture: FCHS Athletic Bus Parking—Buses will have to make a right turn onto the service road coming from Route 50 and drive down to Providence Rec Center to turn around and park along the curb (marked by a red box and red line along curbs). Buses can stay there but that is where teams will be dropped off and picked up. There is no space for a bus to turn around in the parking lot!

2nd picture: Athletics Parking—Red boxes are where parking is allowed on campus as well as street parking. Blue arrows are where the stadium and gym lobby entrances are. Parents/athletes who park on the street or close to Door #1 will have to walk around the building to enter the gym or stadium. Do not park at Providence Rec—towing enforced

  • Varsity will conduct film sessions multiple times during the week and following games. This is considered practice; attendance is required.
    • As long as we can remain productive and efficient, these sessions will be conducted virtually via Zoom
    • Game prep sessions are held in the evening during the week
    • Post-game film sessions are held at 9 am on Saturdays.
  • After three missed practices, we will evaluate a player's standing with the program. Consequences can include being held out of games and/or removal from the program for the season. Don't miss practice.

Volunteerism

"It takes a village!" Please consider getting involved with the program in a variety of ways. Thank you to the folks who have already volunteered; we will be in touch shortly to confirm your availability. We need help at all levels!

The Start of School

  • Be prepared and on time for each class; you represent your family, the program, and yourself. Do it well!
  • EAT! Eat breakfast, and bring a small healthy meal/snack (or two) to eat during the day.
  • Hydrate!
  • If you have Personal Fitness (which if you are a sophomore, junior, or senior, you should :)) be prepared to lift every day, including day 1!
  • Enjoy it! Time flies, make the most of your experiences.

Picture Day

We received the following from our Activities Office about purchasing pictures:

Coaches, thank you all for helping to make picture day move smoothly. I appreciate your teams being on time, organized, and patient. Moving forward, they will edit and organize the photos and then send us a link in about a week's time. Please let your parents know that it will be about a week until they have pictures ready to purchase.

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly Football!

Picture Day Update

Good Afternoon:

We will not have our fundraising blitz day tomorrow; our representative with the company has not yet received the coupon cards. We will start the fundraiser sometime next week and extend it over the course of the next few weeks.

Players will be dismissed for the day after pictures.

Mr. Ford, from the activities office, shared that the photographer will take orders after the pictures have been taken. It is apparently done online.

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly Football.

Picture Day and Fundraiser Blitz Day

Players should report to school on Saturday no later than 7:55 am for team pictures. Following team pictures, we will have our card sale "blitz" around the community. Do you know a business owner who would like to who'd like to sponsor Chantilly football? Please share this information with them! Their sponsorship is more than "just" a donation. We will share their company information on various printed materials, thank them at home games over the PA, and share their company's information on our social media pages!

We hate asking for handouts, but if you have family and friends who'd like to support Chantilly Football, please share our donation page with them!

Updates for the Week of August 1, 2022: FOOTBALL IS BACK!

Good Afternoon!

The time has come! Tomorrow, August 1, is the first day of official practice for the varsity program (sophomores, juniors, and seniors)! Please see below for essential program updates:

CHS Football Updates (All Levels)

Paperwork/RSchool

All athletes must complete paperwork and RSchool registration before the start of practice! PLEASE NOTE YOU CAN NOT PARTICIPATE until all the requirements are met. Please review previous blasts for more information.

Missing practice due to paperwork is considered an Unexcused Absence. Additionally, football requires a five-day acclimation period (three days of helmets only, followed by two days of helmets and shoulder pads) before a player may participate in competition. Therefore, missing a day this week will preclude participation in the Purple-White game. Additionally, missing two days will prevent an athlete from participating in our first scrimmage against Fairfax.

Spirit Pack

The spirit pack is $50. It consists of a new practice jersey, a compression shirt worn on gamedays, and a mouthguard.

  • Practice jerseys and mouthguards will be issued on the first day of practice. Many players have already received their mouthguards.
  • Payment can be made via Myschoolbucks or cash or check. Please make checks out to CHS and include your athlete's name on the memo line.

We have worked hard to keep the cost down for families. For example, both South County and Westfield shared their information via social media, and their respective compression shirts were $38.

Please reach out to Coach Curry if payment is an issue.

Fundraisers

The goal for each athlete is to bring in at least $500 through fundraising efforts.

Discount Cards:

The discount card fundraiser will be held throughout August. Once we receive the cards, athletes can sell them in advance of our "Blitz Day." If an athlete sells all their cards before 8/20, he may opt-out of participating in the blitz.

Sponsorship Opportunities:

Do you know a business owner who would like to who'd like to sponsor Chantilly football? Please share this information with them! Their sponsorship is more than "just" a donation. We will share their company information on various printed materials, thank them at home games over the PA, and share their company's information on our social media pages!

  • If an athlete procures $1,000 or more in sponsorships, he may opt-out of the card fundraiser altogether!
  • The window to sponsor the program will close on 8/20!

Donation Site:

We have had tremendous success over the years using two different fundraising companies to solicit donations from family and friends. It is a simple concept: players bring in 20 email addresses/cell numbers of family and friends. The companies would help get email addresses and cell phone numbers loaded into their system, and they would blast our information using automated emails and text messages. It was efficient and effective.

The downside was they kept up to 25% of the proceeds for essentially creating a distribution list.

We decided to drop the generic site and tasteless automated text/email messages and created our own personalized site where 100% of the donation goes to the program. We hate asking for handouts, but if you have family and friends who'd like to support Chantilly Football, please share our donation page with them!

Freshmen Notes

  • Freshmen are "off" until their first official day, 8/15. Enjoy the time off!
  • Take care of the requirements before the 15th.
  • Saturday, 8/20, is picture day and fundraiser Blitz day.

Varsity Notes

August Practices:

  • Practices will be 8-11:30, Monday through Friday. See below for more information regarding Saturdays.
    • Each morning we will begin with Lifting and/or scheme meetings.
    • Field work will start at 9 am
  • August 1 is slightly different from other days because we must ensure all participation requirements have been met. Therefore, please make sure you have completed RSchool registration before tomorrow morning. Tomorrow we will have a staggered check-in and lift.
    • Seniors and Juniors will check in at 8 am, then lift.
    • Sophomores will begin checking in at 8:20 am, then lift.
    • On-field practice should start at 9 am
    • Bring your helmet, cleats, mouth guard, and athletic SHOES.
    • Personal water bottles are not required but recommended.
  • Football is a SIX-day commitment.
    • This Saturday, 8/6, is our Purple/White intrasquad scrimmage. It will be in the morning, but we will wait to confirm the timeline until later in the week due to the weather.
    • Saturday, 8/13, will be a film session following our scrimmage. Film sessions are considered practice and mandatory.
    • Saturday, 8/20, is picture day and fundraiser Blitz day.
  • Practices are REQUIRED not only by our program but also by local, state, and national governing bodies.
  • Please also note: new this year, multiple unexcused absences may lead to a suspension or removal from the program.

Please reach out if you have any questions. HYDRATE and eat wisely today and tomorrow morning!

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly Football!

Updates for the Week of July 18, 2022

Good Afternoon:

We hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Updates: Week of July 18

  1. Workouts will continue in the morning this week but will be modified slightly due to camp. Monday and Wednesday will follow our usual summer schedule (830-1030); we will lift and work with TrueAP. Tuesday and Thursday, we will only lift. We will start at 830 and be done by 945 on those days.
  2. The camp will be held 5-8 at Westfield HS. They will take registrations at the door.

Fundraisers

More information will follow, but a few quick points:

  • Our primary sources of income are a coupon card sale, online donations, and heat pressing t-shirts (and other products). We will share details about each effort in the next few weeks.
  • We are nearly 100% autonomous financially and need everyone to help with the effort to raise funds.
  • Our card sale will begin in early August and culminates in a "Blitz Day" (door-to-door and shopping centers) after pictures on August 20.
  • The online donation site is up and running! You may begin sharing with friends and family. The link can also be used for donations toward TrueAP payments.

Program Sponsors

To help supplement our income, we are once again looking for program sponsors. We had tremendous success with this initiative in 2019 and hope to do even better this season.

Please visit here to learn more!

Save the Date!

Catch the first glimpse of the 2022 Chargers during our Purple-White game on August 6! We hope to return to a festive atmosphere offering concessions, selling team gear, etc., all proceeds benefit the program.

Changes to Dates

  1. Pictures and the fundraising blitz day are scheduled for August 20 for freshmen and varsity/developmental teams.
  2. The Freshmen and Developmental scrimmages vs. Falls Church have been moved to Monday, 8/29, due to Falls Church's Back-to-School-Night.

Updates for the Week of July 11, 2022

Good Evening!

We hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July and Dead Period Break! We are excited to get back to work this week. As of Monday, there are only 21 days until the official start of football season!

Please see below for a few reminders:

  1. If you are in town, we expect to see you at workouts. If you cannot make a session, reach out to let us know why you cannot make it. Most of our guys have done a great job communicating. There is a proven correlation between off-season/pre-season commitment and success in the fall.
  2. Team Camp starts July 18; please begin to submit the registration. Camp is open to freshmen through seniors.
  3. Please review previous blasts for important information.

Please join us in congratulating Garrett Robertson for committing to William and Mary to play Division I college football! Garrett is the twenty-second Chantilly football player to commit to college football since 2017! Garrett's success is a testament to hard work, taking advantage of one's gifts, coachability, and being a great student. We are proud of you Garrett!

*Reminder* Next week is the VHSL Dead Period; there will be no organized activities for the team (or any other CHS team). We will return to our normal summer workout schedule on July 11.

Updates for the Week of June 20, 2022

Good Evening:

We hope all the fathers and father figures in the program had a wonderful Father's Day!

Please take a moment to review the Pre-Season Checklist. It contains links and details regarding essential information, including:

  • requirements to play (physical form, RSchool site)
  • updated important dates/season schedules
  • volunteer opportunities
  • text alert signup information
  • Team Camp link
  • and more

TrueAP

Registration for our sessions can be found here. As shared previously, the program covers the cost. If you'd like to contribute, please check out Chantilly High School (memo Football) or visit our MySchoolBucks link. Thank you to the folks who have donated to help with the price. See last week's blast for more information.

Meeting Q&A

Before the parent/guardian meeting, we sent a link for Q&A. You will find the questions and answers below.

  • Are rising freshmen allowed to attend summer strength and conditioning?
    • Yes! We encourage our rising freshmen to attend all possible sessions!
  • What is the expectation for attendance with summer workouts?
    • If an athlete is in town, we expect to see them. Please see last week's blast for more information. Not only does the individual player benefit from attending sessions, but the entire program benefits from the development of positive team culture. If players cannot attend a session, they need to contact Coach Curry directly.
  • What is the schedule for the summer conditions and practices?
    • Please see last week's blast regarding workouts and visit here for the entire 2022 calendar.
  • Is it the general rule to let out athletes 20-30 min past posted end times (Elite Club, camp, etc.)? We all have family schedules to consider and 3x in the past 2 weeks my football player has been let out 20-40 min past the posted end time, throwing our family schedule afterwards into a tailspin.
    • Thank you for bringing this up. The short answer is "no, of course not." We would also add that the external factors that lead to delayed dismissals are equally frustrating for coaches and their families, as they are parents, if not more so.
    • There are a few factors in play, so we will address all of them. First and most important, times shared reflect the start and end time of the actual activity (practice, meeting, etc.).
    • Examples: workouts begin at 8:30, and we conclude training at 10:30. Athletes help coaches clean the field and are then dismissed. Many of our athletes slowly depart with teammates well after our time together has ended.
    • The start of the aforementioned ELITE Club meeting held earlier in the month was delayed significantly due to the room reservation not being fulfilled through building use. Unfortunately, that is out of our control. We were fortunate that Mr. MacKenzie happened to see us scrambling for space, and he allowed us to use his classroom on a whim since our reserved room wasn't left unlocked as it should have been. Additionally, the young men were highly engaged and continued the dialogue of the culture meeting beyond the allotted time. The meeting was also held at the end of the building opposite the athletic wing.
    • Camp is off-site and run by a third party. There were a few hiccups that delayed the start and conclusion of the first day.
    • I can assure you that the coaching staff, their spouses, and families, are equally frustrated by the occasional schedule change and derailment. We do our best to honor everyone's time. Many factors are at play that impacts punctuality, from facilities to keeping 60-85 adolescents on track at once. Additionally, when presented to the coaching staff, we always honor the need to depart early from a team function. Please contact Coach Curry directly if you have further questions or concerns. StCurry@fcps.edu.

  • What is the summer schedule? I was unable to attend the meeting yesterday. My son is a rising 11th grader and very interested in football. He attended an after-school meeting like a week or two ago
    • Please review last week's post and email any follow up question to STCurry@Fcps.edu.

  • We are unable to attend the June 9 meeting, but our son is interested in Freshman Football. Please advise of any other way to get information.
    •  Chantillysports.org and Remind Text Alerts are the best ways to keep the information current. Please create an account on Chantillysports.org and elect to receive notifications from all levels of football.
    • Visit here for information regarding text alerts.

  • Can you please send me information regarding when football practice starts? My son will be a freshman in the Fall.
    • Freshmen football will begin on August 15.

  • Am I too late to join the freshmen football team because I did not attend the meeting on June 9?
    • NEVER! We welcome freshmen well into the season. Football is an inclusive game and requires ZERO previous experience. Our primary focus is for our players to have a great experience and "learn and return."

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly football!

Updates for the Week of June 13, 2022-Summer Workout Information

Good Evening:

We hope everyone has had a great first weekend of summer break! We had a very productive camp last week; thank you to all the athletes who attended and their families. We are a week better and appreciate your support.

We also want to thank the parents/guardians who attended our informational meeting. For those unable to attend the meeting, we will send a separate blast about the information shared in the meeting later this week. Please keep an eye out for it!

Summer Workouts

Summer workouts are here!

  • Summer training will begin tomorrow, June 13, at CHS.
  • Sessions are open to all athletes interested in playing football, including freshmen.
  • Sessions will run from 8:30-10:30 am Monday through Thursday.
  • Sessions will include strength training in the weight room and speed, agility, and football-specific conditioning outside.
  •  Athletes should wear clothing that is appropriate for weight lifting. SLIDES and CROCS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE for training.
  • Bring a water bottle.
  • We support multisport athletes; however, we expect that football becomes a top priority when the VHSL calendar turns over in the spring. At this point in the pre-season, that means attending workouts. We schedule our sessions in the morning so that our working athletes have a large window in the afternoon to schedule their shifts.
  • If you are in town, we expect to see you at workouts. If you cannot make a session, reach out to a coach and let them know.
  • Additional outside training is not only unnecessary, it is counterproductive. We appreciate the desire to get better, but the body needs an opportunity to recover after exercise.
  • TrueAP will train us Monday and Wednesday for additional speed and agility work.

TrueAP

As we have done in the past, the program will cover the cost of TrueAP; however, if you wish to contribute to the price ($3,000), we'd appreciate your contribution. Last year many families put $40 toward the cost. If you are inclined, checks should be made to CHANTILLY HIGH SCHOOL, memo football.

All athletes are required to complete the registration; please click here.

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly football!

Updates for the Week of May 23, 2022

Good Evening:

We have a few updates to share as we prepare for the final stretch of the school year.

  1. Athlete Questionnaire/Reflection
  2. ELITE Club Meetings
  3. Off-Season Leader Information/Point System
  4. Camps
  5. Physical Night

Questionnaire/Reflection

We ask all players in the classes of '23, '24, and '25 complete our Athlete Questionnaire

Please take your time and answer all questions honestly, accurately, and thoroughly. Coaches will review the responses to gain a better understanding of the makeup and psychology of our team. Your responses are important and will be kept confidential. Every question helps us gain insight into the players and dynamics of our team. Please take this seriously. This was a valuable resource for our staff in the development of our culture in previous years. Whatever information we can glean from the survey will be used to guide and shape our ELITE Club Culture Meetings.

ELITE Club

The ELITE Club was established in January 2018 to improve the Culture of Chantilly football. Tuesday, May 31, and Thursday, June 2 will be our first ELITE club meetings of the 2022 season. The location is TBD. The meetings will run from 3:10-4:15. We will update the location via Schoology.

Off-Season Point System

If you haven't yet read the criteria for earning points in the off-season, please review the parameters here. Spring strength testing is paramount. Testing will continue through this week and into the next. Non-Pfit students should make every attempt to attend after-school workouts. PFit students should attend class!

The first time the system comes into play will be when we issue gear for Combo camp. The top leaders who have registered for camp will get their equipment first. The second round of rewards will occur in August when we issue uniform numbers, locker assignments, and establish our season leadership council.

Camps

Thank you to the athletes and families who have already submitted their registration for camp. Please see below regarding camp.

For the first time since 2019, both of our normal camps are on as scheduled! For those new to the program, here is a quick breakdown of the camps:

  • Camps are highly productive and participation is encouraged but it is not required.
  • They are operated by a third party, and there are registration fees.
  • Equipment is provided, but transportation is not.

Our first camp is called "Combo Camp" and will be held the week of June 6. We have an early release schedule that week due to exam schedules. Equipment will be issued to registered players prior to the camp. This camp will be held at EC Lawrence Park.

Our "Team Camp" will take place the week of July 18. This camp is held in the evening at Westfield HS.

Physical Night

Ms. Bishop has asked us to share information regarding physical night. It is a quick and easy way to ensure all paperwork is submitted prior to the season!

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly Football!

You will see that there are hyperlinks in the document that will take you to separate pages for Physical night and our two camps. Please see below for more information.

Important Dates

A list of important dates can be found here. We will share modifications and updates as they occur.

Camps

As always, we appreciate your support of Chantilly Football!

Updates for the Week of March 14, 2022

Good Evening!

We hope everyone has enjoyed both the sneak peek of spring and (hopefully) the last taste of winter!

Workouts will continue this week with opportunities to get sessions in during Charger Time and/or after school M/W/F.

As you may recall from previous blasts, we maintain an off-season leader board. One of the main criteria is attending off-season workouts. Traditionally, we will periodically share the attendance of our sessions. We'd like to commend all of our athletes for their commitment thus far. Below is simply a snapshot of the program's work thus far this off-season. No individual should "rest on their laurels," nor should anyone feel as though they are too far behind. Each day is an opportunity to either get better or get worse. Our actions reflect our choices.

Updates for the Week of March 7, 2022

Good Evening!

The Spring Dead Period has concluded. We wish our athletes the best of luck competing for Chantilly this spring!

We will resume strength training tomorrow after school.

  • Sessions will continue to run M/W/F, 3:10-4:10
  • Non-Pfit athletes should attend all three sessions.
  • Athletes playing spring sports for CHS but are not in PFit should visit the weight room during Charger Time.
  • If your spring season coach is prohibiting strength training, they are inhibiting your long-term development of the athlete. We will work with you to adjust programming to match the demands of being an in-season athlete. However, cutting off strength training altogether is unnecessary and borderline irresponsible.
  • Club/Rec/Travel teams do not supersede varsity football.
  • Personal/private training is supplemental and does not take precedent over varsity football; team culture is developed in the weight room and off-season.
  • Success in the fall, both for the individual and the program, is determined in the off-season.

If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Coach Curry.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Chantilly Football!

Updates for the Week of January 31, 2022

Good Morning!

We hope everyone had a great weekend. Please see below for information regarding the off-season and dates for our spring and summer camps.

Off-Season Training

A full week of sessions will resume this week. All athletes not in Personal Fitness or playing a winter sport should make every effort to attend. Although the season seems far off, success in the fall requires year-round commitment, and slow, steady, consistent progress begins in January. Successful teams train hard together year-round. Sessions are Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3:10-4:10.

The easiest way to train consistently and with teammates is to enroll in Personal Fitness. We have 55 members of the program, sophomores through seniors, enrolled in PFit this year.

Several athletes have provided feedback regarding incentives/rewards and helped shape the criterion. The most frequently identified incentive was the selection of equipment and jersey numbers; therefore, among other rewards and recognition throughout the off-season, the top point earners will have the first choice of equipment and jerseys numbers.

There are plenty of opportunities to rise (or fall) on the leaderboard throughout the off-season. Please find the Scoring Criteria here

Camp Dates

We have confirmed the dates for our two pre-season camps. After a two-year pause, "Combo Camp" is back. Combo camp is split into segments, Line of Scrimmage players in one session and skill position players in another. Combo Camp is the week of June 6-10.

Like last year, we will attend Team Camp at Westfield HS. Team camp is the week of July 18-21

Updates for the Week of January 24, 2022

Good Afternoon:

Workouts will resume this week starting Wednesday. We will continue to follow our schedule of M/W/F 3:10-4:10 pm. If there is no school, we will not conduct workouts unless otherwise communicated.

Personal Fitness is the best way to meet the strength requirements necessary to become a successful athlete. It is highly encouraged that all athletes enroll in PFit. Please reach out to Coach Curry if you have questions!

Updates for the Week of January 10, 2022

Good Evening:

Happy 2022! We hope everyone had a restful, safe, healthy Winter Break and start to the new year. With the new year, we have also turned our team page to 2022. Information and dates will be updated frequently.

We are still waiting to hear from the third parties who run our spring passing leagues and summer camps; we do not yet have confirmation for the start of fall practice, but we anticipate the date to be August 1, 2022.

Before we discuss the official start of the off-season, we would like to thank the players and families in the class of 2022 one more time. A special thank you to Meredith and Butch Kinerney for their support, dedication, and tireless efforts to support the program over the last five years. Thank you for taking the lead on so many unsung, behind-the-scenes tasks!

Workouts

We will continue to follow county guidelines regarding COVID mitigation, and consequently, there will be NO AFTER SCHOOL WORKOUTS this week. If permitted, we will revaluate the week of January 17.

If an athlete is a "Charger In Good Standing," they may attend Charger Time sessions this week instead. There will be limited spaces during CT.

ELITE CLUB

Our off-season leadership meetings will begin this month. More information to follow!

PFIT

There is a virtual Curriculum Fair tomorrow during Advisory. Please review the previous blasts that shared information about the importance of taking Personal Fitness as sophomores and juniors. The increased enrollment directly correlated with our increased success on the field.

Athletes enrolled in PFit:

  •  are not expected to attend after school workouts
  • do not have to choose between developing as an athlete with strength training or playing multiple sports
  • have one less class with homework and can dedicate more time to the core subjects that matter most to college admissions
  • have time to pursue other interests, sports, and jobs/hobbies

The successful programs in Northern VA follow this model; this approach is not unique to Chantilly.

Please reach out to Coach Curry if you have questions!

Have a great week!

As always, thank you for your support of Chantilly Football!
