Awards Ceremony Reminder

Good Evening:

Just a reminder that our program-wide awards ceremony is this Thursday at 7 pm in the CHS cafeteria. As is the case on game day, players should wear a shirt and tie with dress pants.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who've responded to Ms. Davenport's Sign-Up Genius. Please see below for a note from Meredith Kinerney.

See you Thursday night!

Thank you.

Hi Charger parents,

I am looking forward to gathering this week to celebrate the 2018 Charger football season.  It was awesome to see the teamwork that the boys shared and the friendships that developed.  At the banquet we will be recognizing the time and dedication that the coaches gave to our sons.  If you would like to contribute to the coaches’ gift, just let me know.

Thanks so much for all of the support!

Awards Ceremony: Save the Date!

Good Afternoon:

We will have our postseason awards ceremony on December 20 in the CHS cafeteria.

Please contact Coach Curry if you are interested in organizing a “banquet” style celebration to include food and drink—catered or potluck—, decorations, etc. If we don’t have enough interest or volunteers, we will still have an awards ceremony on December 20. Either way, we are looking forward to a nice evening celebrating the strides made in 2018, recognizing award winners, and sharing an overview of the plan for the 2019 season.

The time will be set based on the “style” of ceremony and shared as soon as the details of the evening are finalized.

This is for all levels of Chantilly Football, freshman through varsity.

See you on the 20th!

Thank you.

Updates: Week of 9/17

Good Morning:

Freshman and Developmental Games

We apologize for the change in schedule yesterday afternoon. Freshman and Developmental will play Thursday at Home. 5:30/7:15. Friendly reminder for sophomores and Juniors: Developmental games are an opportunity to prepare for varsity experience. The roster is fluid and playing on a Thursday is not punishment; it is a compliment; if we ask you to play it is because we believe you will be a contributor on the varsity during your career and we want you to gain game experience. Healthy programs use JV games to develop their players. We are becoming healthier!

Online Donation Fundraiser

Please continue to send in the online donor sheets. Hard copies were sent home last week. They can also be found here. Information regarding the campaign can be found here.

Homecoming Faculty/Staff Escort

Last fall we brought back the tradition of identifying a member of the faculty or staff at CHS to recognize for their support. This is an opportunity for our students to reach out to a member of the CHS community and express their gratitude. Staff will escort the player onto the field for the pep rally. This is NOT limited to teachers! Support staff, security, cafeteria workers, etc. are all fair game! The idea is to find someone who has made a difference in your experience at CHS and use this as a token of appreciation.  I am asking our players to find the staff member by the end of this week so that we can order t-shirts for staff. They will use this form to record the name and shirt size.

Optional Spirit Store

A few folks have inquired about spirit wear. An online store is now up and running. Please visit here if interested!

Later in the fall, we will have a collection of items, separate from the above store, where 100% of proceeds will benefit the program. Info to follow!

Thank you!

Week of August 20: Practice Time, Team Meals, Developmental Scrimmage Roster

Good Morning:

THANK YOU for your support of Chantilly football. We had a very good blitz day on Saturday. We offer a special thank you to all the parents who showed up to support throughout the day: Thank You!

Team Meals

Team meals will begin this Thursday. Keep an eye out for an opportunity to support/volunteer in the coming days. Meals are being donated by the Cordero family (owners of Don Tito's, The GOAT, Prime Time Bar and Grille, Rockwood etc.). The Cordero brothers Nick ('01) and Anthony ('03) are Chantilly Football Alumni and are excited to help Chantilly Football.

Week of August 13; Fundraisers; Spirit Packs

Good Morning:

Varsity Updates for the week of August 13 (grades 10-12)

Congratulations, you survived two-a-days! We are moving to a single practice format for the rest of the season. Coaches recognize that summer practices are a sacrifice for all involved and we extend our gratitude to all the families who have committed to making Chantilly Football a priority. Thank you!

Monday through Wednesday, practice will be held from 8-10:30 am. Immediately after practice, we will lift and watch film. Please be sure to have appropriate footwear for the weight room. Athletes will be dismissed at 11:30.

Thursday's morning practice will be held from 8-10 am. Athletes should return to CHS at 3 pm for our scrimmage against Langley.

“Remind” Text Alerts:

If you have not yet joined our text alert system, Remind, please do so. This is a great way to stay in touch with updates. To join, text 81010 with the message @tillytilly. Our primary source of communication, however, will remain Chantillysports.org.

Picture Day and Coupon Card Sale:

Saturday, August 18, is our picture and fundraiser blitz day. Picture order forms will be sent home by the end of next week. We have been assigned an 8 am time slot. Athletes will report to school no later than 7:20. We will line up for pictures at 7:45.

Following pictures athletes will change into shorts and congregate to an area TBD (depends on availability) where they will receive cards and their assigned location/carpool. We need additional volunteers to help carpool athletes. Please consider volunteering your time.  Parent Volunteers will help divide up the CHS community (based on boundaries), shopping centers, assign carpools to reach those locations, and help bring students back to CHS.

We need and expect 100% participation from all football players, 9th-12th grade.

As mentioned during the fall meeting on 8/7, this fundraiser is the main source of program income making up what should be 50-60% of our budget. A permission slip will be sent home early in the week and must be returned no later than Saturday morning. Everyone will contribute to our fundraising efforts.

The blitz will begin approximately at 9 and will conclude at 2 pm. Athletes will return early only if they have sold all their cards.

Online Donors and Screen Printing:

In addition to the Coupon Card sale, we will also conduct an Online donation campaign. Again, 100% participation from all players 9-12 is needed and expected. Athletes will receive a potential donor list to complete and return. More information to follow.

We have accepted a few orders to jump start our screen printing efforts. We are making the shirts for the CHS faculty and PE department. Coach Curry’s family has completed most of the PE uniform shirts, but we just received the faculty order and will need to complete these by next week. This is a great way for the program to earn funds by providing a service and not simply asking for donations.  Beginning this week, athletes will be assigned dates that they will complete the shirts on a rotating basis.

Spirit Pack

Spirit Pack payment is now due. At $35, we have one of the most affordable spirit packs in the county. Payments can be cash, check (made out to Chantilly High School: memo line with athlete name), or the preferred method, online using MyschoolBucks. Visit https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/login/getmain.action to pay online.

Thank you for your continued support of Chantilly Football!

Varsity Practice Schedule 8/9 and Scrimmage Clarification

Sophomores through seniors will practice once tomorrow from 8-10:30 am. Players will have the afternoon session off due to our evening scrimmage.  Athletes in need of treatment should report to the training room at 3 pm; locker rooms will also reopen at 3 pm. All sophomores through seniors should report back to CHS by 3:15 to ensure that they are ready for our 3:30 pregame meeting. Our busses will depart for Washington and Lee by 4:15. The scrimmage will begin at 6 pm and should conclude by roughly 8 pm.

We apologize for any confusion regarding the division of athletes among our varsity and developmental (JV) rosters. We have tried to stress that all sophomores through seniors will practice and prep as one unit. We are still evaluating our athletes and will dress all sophomores through seniors for both scrimmages while we continue to evaluate the roster.

The developmental team is and will remain, fluid depending on several factors ranging from depth to performance. Tenth and eleventh graders who are not expected to start in a varsity contest will play in JV games to get game experience. If their performance warrants a fulltime promotion to varsity, athletes will no longer dress on Thursdays. Seniors and underclassmen who are slated to play a significant number of snaps on a Friday night will not participate in JV contests.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE UPDATES

Good Afternoon:

As the players who have attended workouts over the summer know, there are several projects on campus that are affecting our school and our schedule. Most notably, the track resurfacing project has forced the county to close the field since late May.

As it stands now, the turf field remains inaccessible and will remain so for the foreseeable future. To keep a normal schedule, the contingency plan was to hold practice on the "wedge" practice field and in the baseball outfield; however, with the heavy rains and the impending weather forecast, we will not be able to use the grass facilities until Mr. Bowerman gives us the go ahead.

Because of the field closure and weather, there are two major changes to the schedule that affect all levels of the program:

  1. Freshman practice will not begin next week. Freshman will instead report to CHS on Monday, August 6 at 8 am. Freshman coaches will ensure all paperwork is complete and updated. If fields are accessible, practice will begin that day at CHS. If fields are inaccessible, freshman coaches will conduct workouts and a “chalk talk”.
  2. Monday, July 30 8 am: Sophomores, juniors, and seniors will report to CHS for paperwork check-in. Any players in need of Impact Concussion testing will complete testing with our ATCs after check-in. If players do not need to complete impact testing, they will be released to go home.

Our first practice will begin at 10:45 at Poplar Tree Park. We will practice 10:45—1:30 pm.

  1. Tuesday, August 1 8 am: Two-a-days will begin Tuesday, August 1 at 8 am at Poplar Tree Park.
  • ???????Practice 1: 8am-10:15 am
  • Practice 2: 11:15 am –1:30 pm.???????

Apart from the July 30, our normal two-a-day schedule is unaffected by the change in location:

  • 8—10:15
  • Hour break (remain on campus)
  • 11:15—1:30

It is highly likely that the first week of practice will be spent at Poplar Tree.

Please remain flexible as these factors are out of our control. Despite these challenges, we are excited to begin 2018!

Thank you.

Week of July 23

Good Evening:

We have a few reminders and a weather-related update to share for this upcoming week.

Update

Due to a variety of reasons (weather, field closure for the track resurfacing, lack of indoor space) tomorrow's workout will be weight room only; therefore, workouts will likely be completed by 9:45 (instead of the regular 10:30).

Reminders

Workouts will only be held Monday and Wednesday this week.

Please review the blast from Thursday for a pre-season checklist and links to all of the required paperwork for participation.

Thank you.

Camp Reminders and Updates

Good Afternoon:

Camp Information
If you have not yet registered for camp, the link for varsity/developmental camp is available here. The freshman registration can be found here.

We have shared information regarding this camp a number of times starting with the banquet and through email blasts as early as January 13, but perhaps I didn't explain why we chose this camp over other options.

In short, we feel that competing with programs we do not see in the fall is beneficial for a variety of reasons. Evergreen also offers exceptional facilities that are unmatched by any other organization/venue available to our program. This allows for greater flexibility for how we structure camp. Ultimately, the football staff felt this was the most worthwhile camp for us to participate in this summer.

We realize that the address seems daunting, however, other camp options not only fail to meet our needs, they aren't any easier/quicker to access. Below is a list of other venues, the distance from CHS, and estimated travel time (according to Google maps):

  • CHS to Evergreen: 19 miles and 20-30 minutes.
  • CHS to South Lakes: 10 miles and 22-25 minutes
  • CHS to Hayfield: 23 miles and 32-45 minutes

College overnight camps included: Shenandoah/JMU/UVA/Frostburg State, etc. Those camps cost 3-4 times as much for players and are obviously further away.

Notes regarding camp:

  • Camp Runs 7:30-9:30.
  • Water will be provided by Evergreen but cups become scarce as the day wears on. We recommend bringing a small bottle to refill.
  • Participants should also bring their helmet, shoulder pads, practice jersey, and a mouthpiece. We will have extra practice jerseys for those who are new to the program, including freshmen. We will have some extra mouthpieces with us. Everyone has gotten one or will get one for free. They are $1 after the first mouthpiece. We also recommend wearing a five-pad girdle. If you do not have a girdle yet, we will sell them through our spirit pack (information to follow) or you can purchase on your own. Everyone will need a girdle by July 30.

Workouts
Please remember that the weight room is not going to be open during our normal summer hours this week since the program is at camp. Our workouts will be Tuesday and Thursday from 11-12. We will complete a brief, but intense full-body lift.

We will resume our normal 8:30-10:30, Monday through Thursday schedule next week (July 16).

Please find the updated attendance through this link to team files. We sincerely appreciate the dedication so many athletes have demonstrated this off-season. We are miles ahead of where we were this time last year.

Leaderboard
We will update the leaderboard upon the conclusion of the pre-season workouts and camps. Remember, the first round of "rewards" was selecting equipment first. The next round of rewards will be the selection of jersey numbers. The top tier select their numbers first, the second tier will select from a range of remaining numbers based on position played, the third tier will have their number assigned based on position.

All sophomores through seniors will wear our new custom Nike jerseys.

In addition to rewards, the top group will have earned membership in the E.L.I.T.E Club (Empowering Leaders Individually with Team 1st Emphasis) that will not only serve as a leadership council but will also be the pool of players from which our captains will be selected.  More information regarding the off-season leadership and point system can be found here and in previous emails/posts.

Hope to see everyone at camp!

Summer Weight Room Hours and True AP

Happy Father's Day to all Charger Dads, Grandfathers, and father figures!

Just a reminder, beginning tomorrow, the weight room hours shift to our summer schedule. This is for all football players: rising freshman through rising seniors.

Summer workouts are held Monday through Thursday 8:30-10:30 am. We begin promptly at 8:30 am and end no later than 10:30 am (45 minutes to 1 hour of speed/agility or conditioning work and roughly one hour in the weight room).

We want our players to have a great summer and do what the need/want to do: to work a part-time job, have fun, play in basketball summer leagues, travel lax, baseball, etc., but reserve the mornings to improve their program and their athletic ability! We expect our athletes to train together because that is what successful high school football programs do--compete and work together! True AP will work with us throughout the pre-season starting with a testing combine tomorrow morning.

Please arrive a few minutes early and meet in the gym lobby. Come dressed and ready to work! Appropriate attire should include laced athletic footwear, athletic shorts, and shirt. Bring your own water bottle as we will only take breaks as a team.

We had a great camp last week and made tremendous strides toward bringing Chantilly back to where we belong: keep it going!

Remember, it is always "bring a friend to workout day"! Don't talk about it, be about it!

See you tomorrow!

Wilkins Shoes Optional Fitting Tomorrow

Good Afternoon,

For those who are interested in the optional cleat fitting tomorrow, the prices of the products can be found below. The retail price does not reflect sales tax; the Chantilly price includes tax.

  • Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3: Retail = $120, Chantilly Discount = $107.41
  • Nike Vapor Speed 3: Retail = $94.99, Chantilly Discount = $80.56
  • Nike Alpha Menace: Retail = $99.99, Chantilly Discount = $89.51

You may pay cash, check, or credit card. Wilkins Shoe Center is located in Winchester and has a great reputation for their “old-school” customer service. Last spring, their owner drove out to CHS to “sit and fit” interested players for their cleats. The cleats are offered at a significant discount from most retail outlets and Wilkins will guarantee their quality. In other words, if an issue arises they will replace the cleat at no cost to you, no questions asked.

This is not a required vendor, however, athletes will need cleats for the season and these meet our dress code.

Recruiting and College Football: All Grades

Good Morning:

Last spring I shared a Google Form that players had the option to fill out if they are interested in playing football at the college level. This year's form can be found here. If you are interested in playing at the next level, please complete this form. I share information throughout the form so please be sure to read closely. Even if you completed the form last year, please complete this one to update your information.

This is open to all CHS football players regardless of graduating class. Keep in mind, grades are the most IMPORTANT factor in making yourself "recruitable" and freshman/sophomore CORE class GPA plays a major role.

If a player completes the form (therefore is interested in playing) I will meet with them to discuss in person. I will meet with members of the class of 2019 first.

As always, please reach out if you have questions.

Thank you

Chantilly High School Sports Physical Registration Now Open!

Believe it or not, it is time to start planning for the 2018-2019 school year!  The first step to participate in any preseason or afterschool athletic event is completing a sports physical.  The Chantilly High School Athletic Training Department will be offering sports physicals at Chantilly High School on Monday, June 4th, 2017. This physical will be good for all sports and out of season practices (green days, yellow days, and weight room workouts) for the 2018-2019 school year.  This event is a fundraiser for the Chantilly High School Athletic Training Program and goes to support the athletes at Chantilly High School.  The cost of the physical is $50 when you register online, $60 for walk-ins.

You can register by following this link: https://www.fcps.edu/athletic.preparticipation.screenings and click on “student-athlete registration for physicals”

Thank you in advance of your support to the Chantilly Athletic Training Program!

Passing League and Green Days for Skill Players

Good Afternoon:

We hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break!

As we shared with players prior to the break, we have scheduled Green Days for SKILL players Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday of this week to prep for our passing league that begins Sunday Night at Evergreen Sportsplex.

Key points for this week's Green Days:

  • Open to anyone interested playing a skill position (QB, WR, TE, RB or LB, DB)
  • OL/DL will only lift (same options of CT, PFit, after school apply)
    • OL/DL Green Days will take place at a later date
  • Players should bring cleats and shoes.
  • If the grass practice field ("the wedge") is playable we will work outside.
  • If the grass field is too saturated, we will be in the main gym so have appropriate shoes.
  • Skill players should meet in the upstairs locker room and be ready to go by 3:10 (same time as weight room)
  • Sessions will run for approximately 2 hours from 3:15-5:15.

Passing League

Information regarding the league has been shared several times and can be found in earlier posts or on our Google Site. Please review if you have questions or email Coach Curry directly.

Key Points Regarding Passing League:

  • Open to anyone interested playing a skill position (QB, WR, TE, RB or LB, DB)
  • If you haven't already signed up, please visit Evergreen's site to do so.
  • The facility is no further from Chantilly than the other passing league options
  • The facility is far superior to the other passing league options
  • Rising 9 and Rising 10 will play the "early" games
  • Rising 11/12 and some 10 will play later games
  • The league will run every Sunday through May 20 including Mother's Day

This week, commitment to building a winning program will look like the following:

  • Skill players lift during CT or Pfit, attend practice, participate in Passing League
  • Oline/Dline should lift during CT, PFit, or after school

This long stretch of Spring is absolutely VITAL to success in the fall; games are decided in the off-season! What are you doing to get better?

Leadership Meeting, Weight Room, Passing League

Good Morning:

Leadership Meeting
We will be holding our second "Leadership Meeting" on March 21 at 7 pm. The location is still to TBD. To support our multi-sport athletes and guarantee an opportunity for all of our players to participate, we select dates that avoid "in-season" conflicts. As of now, there are no conflicts with baseball, lacrosse, or track.

GET IN THE WEIGHT ROOM, PLEASE!
The "Spring Dead Period" is now over and we expect participation in our strength training program. The only way to affect change in the fall is to act from January until July. In-season athletes should carve time out to join us either after school or during CT. Spring/rec leagues should not take precedence over the weight room. Again, this is why Personal Fitness is a necessity for an athlete!

Interesting Read Regarding Risks/Rewards of Football

Passing League
If you want to play a skill position in the fall, please register for our passing league here. Evergreen is a top of the line facility, provides top-end competition we won't see during the regular season and is no less-convenient to get to than Mt. Vernon and Hayfield (our other options).

Note on Commitment
Our goal is to be explicit with expectations and transparent about what we believe must happen in order to improve the program. It won't happen overnight but it will come with time if we have participation and buy-in from athletes and families.

It is easy to point fingers and complain DURING the season, but if we ask the question "What did YOU do to improve the program?", how will you answer?

As always, thank you for your support.

Read Across America

Good Morning,

This week, 2/26-3/2, local schools are celebrating "Read Across America" week. We are looking for volunteers to read to elementary students on Thursday and Friday.

The opportunities are at Greenbriar West and Lees Corner. Greenbriar West is scheduled for Thursday at 10:30 and Lees Corner is scheduled for Friday at 8:30. Athletes would spend about an hour working with students.

We can walk to Greenbriar West, but athletes would need to provide their own transportation to and from Lees Corner.

Please use this form to register so that I can get permission slips and information to you in the next day or two.

Thank you!

Reminder

Good Evening:

With course selections underway, we wanted to take a moment to reiterate the importance of Personal Fitness.

If competing is a priority—both individually and as a program—dedication to the weight room is non-negotiable. The best option is to take Personal Fitness. Nothing will change without a change in mindset and an increase in commitment. We are grateful for the twenty or so athletes who have been diligent in their commitment thus far this off-season.

We understand that, to many parents and players, football seems a long way off this time of year, but the fact is progress comes slowly and only with consistent effort and dedication. We try to stress to our players that every day is a choice to either improve or regress. The days are deposits that are cashed in the fall. The less we contribute now, the fewer returns we will see during the season.

The easiest way to meet the necessary commitment to the weight room is to take the class that places you in the weight room every other day.

Below you will find the information we shared last week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With course selection just around the corner for the '18-'19 school year, it is important that we stress the benefits of taking Personal Fitness as an elective.

It is absolutely imperative that we make Personal Fitness a major part of the Chantilly Football Culture, especially for Sophomores and Juniors.  If we hope to become a competitive program, committing to the weight room is not optional. To compete within our district, our athletes need to lift weights year-round, multiple times per week, in a structured environment. This has to be priority number one until we close the significant gap between CHS and every program on our schedule. If athletes want to be successful, they have two options: carve out three afternoons a week to lift after school from the end of the season until summer workouts begin or elect to take personal fitness. If neither path is taken, we will continue to struggle.

CHS is fortunate to have one of the best Directors of Student Services in all of Virginia in Ms. Robyn Lady. If a parent/guardian or athlete has any questions or reservations about enrolling in Personal Fitness and its impact on the college application process, please feel free to reach out to her directly at ralady@fcps.edu.

In addition to helping improve our ability to compete against the best teams in the area, there are added academic benefits as well.

  • Students will have one less class to worry about in terms of homework thus allowing more time to work/study for core classes (the classes that matter most for college admissions).
  • Students will have more free time to pursue other interests thus reducing the likelihood of school-induced stress/anxiety.
  • Personal Fitness is the best way for multi-sport athletes to participate in the all of the sports they love while simultaneously improving strength and athleticism!!!
  • Football players are NOT expected to participate in after/before school strength and conditioning sessions if they are enrolled in Personal Fitness! Our athletes will not feel pulled in multiple directions after school nor will they find their time monopolized by off-season workouts!
  • Successful participation in Personal Fitness earns 100 points in our off-season point system.
  •  Exercise is proven to improve cognitive ability: see reason number two from a list published in Time (see link)

Updates: Team Site, Leadership Meeting, New Coaches, and Personal Fitness

Good Evening,

We have revised the website we created and shared a few weeks ago so that an FCPS account is no longer required to access the page. We hope this makes it easier for parents/guardians to access information! The more accessible site can be found here.

Even if you were able to view the previous version, please take a moment to review the site carefully. Among other information, you will find important dates for the off-season, passing league/camp information and registration links as well information about the Off-Season Point System.

Weight Room and Meetings

The off-season is fully underway and although we have a core of dedicated young men working together, our numbers still aren't where they need to be. If they are not in Personal Fitness, please continue to encourage your son to join us three days per week in the weight room. Sessions are open during Charger Time and after school.

Please continue to sign-up for one-on-one meetings with Coach Curry.

Leadership Meeting and Additions to the Coaching Staff

Just a reminder that this Thursday (1/25) at 7 pm we will have our first Leadership/Core Values meeting. It will be held in the CHS Lecture Hall (across from the Library). All players interested in helping shape the culture of the program should try to attend! We will also introduce five of our program's new coaches. We look forward to working toward a new culture as well welcoming our new coaches to Chantilly Football.

Personal Fitness Sign-Up

With course selection just around the corner for the '18-'19 school year, it is important that we stress the benefits of taking Personal Fitness as an elective.

Off-Season Information

Good Afternoon,

We hope everyone had a pleasant and enjoyable holiday season. Despite the crazy weather, we have had a busy start to 2018! We have added some quality men to our coaching staff, started our off-season strength and conditioning program, and have outlined the rest of our winter and spring. Additionally, we have created a website to supplement ChantillySports.org that can be found here. If you have trouble accessing the site as a parent, please have your athlete login using their fcpsschools.net account.

Leadership Meetings

As we enter our first off-season in the building, the coaching staff is looking forward to making some significant improvements to how we spend the winter/spring off-season. One significant change will be the addition of monthly "Leadership Meetings". These meetings will have less to do with Xs and Os and more to do with the culture and state of the program. These meetings are open to all interested players regardless of experience or age.

These meetings will be related to program development and our attempt to deliberately create a positive culture/leadership within the program.

We will hold one meeting per month throughout the spring. Dates will be set to work around the schedules of the varsity “in-season” sports in which our athletes are most likely to participate (winter: wrestling/basketball; spring: lax/baseball) so that everyone has an opportunity to participate in our meetings.

Our first meeting will be two weeks from now on Thursday, January 25 at 7 pm in the Lecture Hall.  The first meeting will focus on Core Values and team rules.

Meetings for Feb, March, April, May are TBD based on our CHS Varsity Sports schedules.

Off-Season Point System

To create additional incentives this off-season, we have established scoring criteria to help guide our players' off-season efforts.

The concept is simple: do right and earn points. Outside of losing points for negative behaviors, this system is based almost entirely on rewarding positive behaviors, not punishing negative behaviors. A number of players have provided feedback regarding incentives/rewards. The most frequently identified incentive was the selection of equipment and jersey numbers; therefore, among other rewards and recognition throughout the off-season, the top point earners will have the first choice of equipment and jerseys numbers.

Although equipment will be distributed for camps, there will be plenty of opportunities to rise (or fall) on the leaderboard between equipment issue and jersey selection. Scoring Criteria can be found on the new site linked at the beginning or by accessing this document.

Important Dates and Camp Information

Please find dates for workouts, passing league, camps, and equipment issue by accessing this document.  The abbreviated outline is as follows:

Passing League at Evergreen Sportsplex:

  • April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20

Register here for passing league.  7v7 Passing League is open to anyone interested in playing.

  • Combo Camp will run June 11, 12, 13, and 14. Registration information is forthcoming.
  • Team Camp will be at Evergreen Sportsplex running from July 9, 10, 11, and 12. Register here.
  • Freshman Camp will at Evergreen Sportsplex running from July 9, 10, 11, and 12. Register here.

Player/Coach Meetings

Players should sign-up for a meeting with Coach Curry using this link. We ask that all players pick three potential dates. A schedule will be made and shared via Google Classroom and our new Google Site. After school meetings will occur Monday through Thursday and will last approximately 10 minutes. If there is an after school conflict that cannot be avoided, players need to make arrangements with Coach to meet during the school day.

We are excited about the future of the program and committed to our players' development not only as athletes but as young men as well.
