Track Meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd @ 2:30 & Other Announcements

A few various track announcements:

a) Congratulations to two of your team members for earning All-State Honors this weekend at ths State Meet:

Wes Sun- 3rd Place- Pole Vault- 14' 0"
Chris Foley- 8th Place- 3200m Run- 9:46.71

b) The CHS Spring Track Awards will be held this Thursday, at 7:00 pm in the gym.  This is a very important event, to celebrate the season as a whole, honor award recipients, and pass out letters, etc. It is VERY IMPORTANT that all members attend, and that all members show up on time for this.

c) For all returning athletes, there will be a brief, but important meeting after school on Tuesday.  This is for anyone planning on running indoor or outdoor track next year.  We will discuss a variety of items, including off-season conditioning, camps, and summer/fall expectations.  The only way to continue your development as an athlete, and for us to continue to improve as a team, is to stay in shape all year-round.  This meeting will not last more than a half-hour or so, but it is important for everyone to be there.

Thank you all for a fantastic season, and I look forward to doing it again, if not even better, next year.

Spring Track: Spring Break Practices & Meet Schedule Changes

Attention All Track Team Members:

Please note the following changes to our meet schedule and adjust accordingly.

We will no longer be attending the VA Runner Invitational on Friday & Saturday, April 4-5 at Colonial Forge HS in Stafford.  Instead, we will be competing on the previous Saturday, March 29th at Westfield HS, at the Carolyn Legard Relays.  The following weekend will be open.

In addition, the Wednesday, March 26th meet, originally scheduled at CHS, has been moved to Westfield HS on Wednesday, April 30th.  This meet will be primarily for JV level runners, in order to give them an extra meet later in the season, when more runners may be prepared to run faster times, including lettering standards.

Also, please note the respective workout schedules for both distance runners and sprinters. Both groups will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday over spring break.  All distance workouts will be at 9:30 am, while sprinters will run at 2:50 pm. Locations are as follows:

  • Monday- Both groups at Lees Corner Elementary
  • Wednesday- Both groups at Chantilly Track
  • Friday- Sprinters at CHS; For distance runners...this might be a good day to decide, as Fairfax County residents and taxpayers, to use the facilities at Burke Lake.

It is IMPERATIVE that you do all of your workouts over break, or else you will be sending your fitness, and your team's progress, back to where we were at the beginning of the season. The practices, unless you have been excused by your event coach, should be considered to be MANDATORY.

Workout Schedules can be found at: http://www.chargercctrack.com/outdoortrackinfo.html#workouts.

Spring Track Paperwork Deadline Extended to 9 AM Monday

Attention Prospective Spring Track Team Members:

I realize that more than half of you had forms still due to be turned in today, Friday, February 22nd, as per the deadline posted.

Tryouts are still slated to take place on Monday, February 25th at 2:50 pm.  I will still accept all forms to be turned in to me, as long as they are done by LS in Room 217. This will give me time to sort through the forms to determine who has turned in everything, and thus is eligible to tryout.

Please understand this:  I am extending the deadline for forms from today to Monday, because of the day off.  We are not extending it past Monday. If you do not have all of your paperwork submitted, you are not trying out, and thus, you are not running this spring.

If you are not sure which forms you are missing, please check our website at: http://www.chargercctrack.com/outdoortrackinfo.html#FORMS.

Any forms you may still need may be found on the same page, and may be downloaded and printed off.

We look forward to seeing you for tryouts on Monday.

Spring Track Team/Parent Meeting Change-Now Tuesday

Attention to all prospective Spring Track Team Members:

The meeting for you and your parents, originally scheduled for Monday, February 18th, at 6:30 pm, is now scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th, at 7 pm.  It is still in the CHS cafeteria.  We apologize for the late change in date.

All athletes are expected to attend, with at least one parent.  We will be going through all administrative materials/information, as well as introduce our coaching staff.  This is a good opportunity for new parents to ask questions.

You are expected to bring your paperwork with you to turn in, if you have not done so.  If you need forms, they may be found at http://www.chargercctrack.com/outdoortrackinfo.html.

Please contact Dr. Gilchrist  @ MTGilchrst@aol.com if you have any questions.
