Friday, 3/6 - Varsity practices 5-6:45 & JV 6-7:30 @ CHS.  Varsity please bring your sneakers; colder & very windy!

 

Saturday, 3/7 – JV & Varsity scrimmage Yorktown & Madison @ Madison.  JV bus departs @ 7 & Varsity @ 9:30.  We will wear pinnies, black shorts & sweats.  Schedule attached.

 

Monday, 3/9 – Both team’s pictures in CHS stadium at 4:45; practice for both teams immediately follows until 7.  Button pictures with Mrs. Mercer beforehand.

 

Tuesday, 3/10 – Varsity & JV practice 3:45-5:30 @ Poplar Tree Park.

 

Wednesday, 3/11 - Both teams practice 7:45-9:30 @ CHS

 

Thursday, 3/12 – Varsity practices 5-6:45 & JV 6-7:45 @ CHS; Varsity bring your sneakers. 

 

Friday, 3/13 - All activities cancelled. 

 

Saturday, 3/14 – All activities cancelled.

Tryouts *1/29/20 update

CHANTILLY BOYS LACROSSE

2020 TRYOUT POLICY

 

 

  1. Open to all male students in good academic standing.
     
     
  2. Participants must have the VHSL physical, emergency care, athlete & parental concussion reviews; along with a copy of most recent grades on file beforehand.  Fall and winter athletes do not need their physical or concussion reviews; only updated emergency care and their current grades.  Please return by Thursday, 2/13; via email or at skill sessions.  This allows the Athletic Trainers & coaches to review/process the paperwork so all players will be eligible to tryout on time.  Forms available on-line @ www.chantillysports.org; click “files & links” tab.
     
     
  3. Equipment required: Stick, Gloves, Mouth Guard, Protective Cup, Pads, Spikes and Sneakers.  Helmets and practice jerseys will be provided.  Sweats are mandatory until the weather improves.
     
     
  4. Assessment Criteria:
       
    * Three C’s (Character, Commitment and Courage)
    * Athleticism (speed, strength, coordination & conditioning)
    * Stick Skills
    * GBalls
    * Field Sense, Vision and Decision Making
    * Defensive & Offensive Skills
    * Communication Skills
    * Unique specialist skills (i.e. Goalie/Face-Off)
                           
     
  5. Timing:
     
    Tuesday, Feb. 11 – helmet & pinnie distribution @ 7:45pm
    Tuesday, Feb. 18 – MANDATORY Gauntlet: 6-7:15pm @ CHS
    Monday, Feb. 24 – tryouts: V 7-8:45 & JV 8:15-9:45 @ CHS
    Tuesday, Feb. 25 – tryouts V & JV 3:45-5:30 @ Poplar Tree Park
    Wednesday, Feb. 26 – tryouts V 5-7 & JV 6:30-8:30 @ CHS
    Thursday, Feb. 27 – tryouts V 5-6:30 & JV 6-7:30; if necessary

  6. Estimated Team Roster Size:
     
    Varsity: @ 26-30 players   JV: @ 26-30 players
     
     
  7. Practice Policy:
     
    Monday through Friday @ 3:45–5:30 pm @ Poplar Tree Park or 5:30-7:30 @ CHS depending on field availability

Saturdays: 9-11am @ CHS

Attendance is mandatory

Potential conflicts are discussed in advance between player and Coaches.
