ROBINSON: 2
Chantilly traveled to Robinson Friday night and defeated a very sound Rams team 8-2. Starter and winning pitcher Bill Boyle had another great outing, allowing only 4 hits en route to his third complete game victory.
Robinson led 2-1 after 4 innings behind some very good pitching. Chantilly finally got things started in the 5th, loading the bases after walks to Mike Miller and Wes Kerbuski, and a single by Adam Fridy. Bill Boyle executed a suicide squeeze perfectly to tie the game, then Sam Zimmerman ripped one up the middle to drive in 2 and put the Chargers ahead for good. Other offensive highlights for the Chargers included a double and a single from catcher Matt Dewitt, another perfect squeeze bunt RBI single by Lou Paladeau, singles from Jamie Danehower and AJ Worley, and an RBI sacrifice by Ben Langford. Centerfielder Wes Kerbuski turned in the defensive play of the night in the 2nd, diving to snag a sinking liner, then coming up firing to double a runner off first to kill a Robinson rally. 2nd baseman Mike Miller also had a good performance in the field, taking away 2 sure base hits in the 6th, and another in the 7th to close out the game.
The win takes the Chargers to 10-2 on the year, and moves them into a tie for first place in the Concorde District. On Monday night, Chantilly takes on rival Oakton in their final home game of the season.
