2020-2021 Chantilly Baseball

Welcome back to the school year.  All students interested in baseball for the upcoming school year should email Coach Ford (kjford@fcps.edu) with their Google (fcpsschools.net) account.  We will be looking for opportunities to connect and continue to help players improve.  We will be working through a Google Classroom for the baseball program so we can look at drills, fundamentals and videos to help us all learn a little more about ourselves and baseball.  This is open to any students that are interested in baseball as we hopefully move forward to a spring season.  This is optional and not a requirement, but we hope to find ways to help you stay on the path to success.  Once you have e-mailed Coach Ford, you will be added to the Google Classroom.  Stay tuned and good luck with the beginning of school.

Baseball Tryout Information '20

Baseball Tryout Information

Dates:            Monday Feb. 24          4:00 PM – 6:30 PM

                        Tuesday Feb. 25          7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Wed. Feb. 26               4:00 PM – 6:30 PM     Possible Cuts

Thursday Feb. 27        7:00 PM – 9:00 PM     Possible Cuts

Friday Feb. 28             4:00 PM – 7:00 PM     Possible Cuts

This is a TENTATIVE schedule.  Please plan on being flexible.  Much of this depends on the weather and what space we are allocated in the building.  I will post times as soon as I know them on the website for each day.  Tryouts could range from 1 ½ hours to 3 hours depending on what we have available.  If we are indoors, it will be in the gym and wrestling room.  On Tuesday and Thursday we have been allocated the turf field from 7:30 – 9:00.  Please be prepared with proper shoes as spikes are not allowed on the turf.

Tryout Requirements:  In order to tryout, all players must have the following turned in by Thursday Feb. 20:

-A current VHSL physical to the training room

-An Emergency Care Card turned into Coach Ford (Even if you played another sport)

-Parent and Student Concussion Ed: https://www.fcps.edu/activities/student-athletics

Tryout Needs:  Glove, Hat, Baseball clothes, Protective gear, Running/Indoor/Turf and Baseball shoes, Proper Outdoor Clothing.  I do not have lockers to give out.   You may need to look for ways to store your equipment during the school day (classroom, office, older players car, parents drop it off)

Tryout Procedures:  Our goal is to have all players tryout together.  Our intention is to try and give players the maximum amount of opportunity to show us what they can do as a baseball player.  Each player will be seen by all the coaches in the program with evaluation sheets to be used as a tool for us to identify skills and abilities.  This includes hitting, fielding, throwing, speed, athletic ability, physical shape, hustle, teamwork, baseball knowledge, etc.  All coaches in the program will participate in deciding each team.  Tryouts can last 3 days if deemed sufficient, but may take more days.  It is the player’s responsibility to tryout in whatever positions you play when opportunities are given.
