The JV Chargers dropped a heartbreaker to Oakton, 12-11, in a wild affair at Oakton on Monday night. Oakton jumped on top 5-0 in the 1st, and added another in the 2nd to make it 6-0. Chantilly rallied in the 3rd, capped off by Bill Boyle hammering a Grand Slam over the centerfield wall to tie the score at 6. Dan Lawler pitched 4 strong innings of relief, and the Charger offense stayed hot, building an 11-9 lead they carried into the bottom of the 7th, but Oakton staged a 3 run rally to complete the victory.
The Chantilly offense banged out 12 hits, including Boyle’s homer, 2 singles and a double from Christian Temple, a triple, single, and an RBI by Adam Fridy, a single, double, and an RBI by AJ Worley, 2 singles from Jamie Danehower, a double, sac. fly, and 3RBIs for Sam Zimmerman, and a single by Wes Kerbuski. Defensively, Lou Paladeau made 3 big catches on long drives to right field, and catcher Matt Dewitt made a great hustle play in the 4th, tracking down an errant throw behind first and picking off a runner trying to take 2nd on the play.
