2021 season update sept. 4th

Our 2021 season will begin on April 12th with the first game on April 26th in a 9 game regular season.  It doesn’t look like any in-season tournaments are viable; the district tournament is a maybe at this point, a shortened Regional tournament from June 14-19 & a State tournament from June 22-June 26.

Fairfax County Public Schools will move into Phase III on Tuesday, Sept. 8th. What that provides is additional opportunities for conditioning with the use of sticks.  At this point no gloves or helmets.  Physicals, emergency care form & concussions are required to participate.  Pre-participation temperature checks & player health questionnaire required for each event.  Social distancing & disinfectants stressed.  VHSL Physicals & concussion reviews can be emailed to Ms. Bishop our ATC at: kabishop@fcps.edu. Please email your emergency care info back to me.

To use sticks without helmets & gloves doesn’t sound safe to me.  To focus on conditioning only at this point doesn’t increase our lacrosse IQ nor improve our stick skills or shooting mechanics.

When we can schedule green days with coaches interacting with fully equipped players we will be front & center.  In the meantime please get your physicals, complete the concussion reviews & email your emergency care forms so we are ready to go.  Playing wall ball or catch is also a terrific idea.

Thank you.
