Northern Region Championship Results – February 10-14, 2009 

 Oak Marr Recreation Center - Thirty teams from four districts competed in the highly competitive Northern Region Swim and Dive Championship meet this past week.  With several boys qualifying for finals, the Charger boys finished in 7^th place.  With several girls swimming best times, the Charger ladies came on strong at the end to finish in 5^th place. 

 Four Charger team records were broken at the meet.  Matt Benecki broke his own Northern Region record from last year in the 500 free with a winning Automatic All-American time of 4:27.37.  The girls 200 medley relay with Shannon Silsby, Becca Yost, Elizabeth Hall and Lauren Bachman broke their own team record with an All-American Consideration time of 1:50.20.  In the 100 fly, Elizabeth Hall broke her own team record with an Automatic All-American time of 56.30.  Elizabeth also broke a 12 year-old team record in the 100 back with an All-American Consideration time of 57.86.

The VHSL Group AAA State Championships will consist of Swim Preliminaries on Friday, February 20 at 4 PM and Swim Finals on Saturday February 21 at 4:30 PM at the Freedom Aquatics and Fitness Center – GMU, 9100 Freedom Center Blvd in Manassas.  Congratulations to our relay teams and individual swimmers who will be competing at the State Championship Meet.
