Charger Swim and Dive vs. Herndon

Audrey Moore Rec Center– The Chantilly Chargers hosted the Herndon Hornets in their fifth Concorde District and sixth overall meet of the season.  Both the boys and girls squads won in a hard fought dual meet.  With one dual meet left to go against Oakton on Senior Night next week, both the Charger Boys and Girls squads are on track to complete a very successful season.

 Boys Competition

The Charger boys took first place in 7 of 12 events.  The final score of the boys’ competition was 162-153.  After six meets, the Charger boys’ have an overall record of 4-2.

Mitch Phillips was the first to smoke the Hornets in the 200 free.  Matt Benecki soon followed with a first place in the 200 individual medley.  Brian Rothschild was the winner of the 100 free.  Benecki added a second dominating victory in the 500 free.  The 200 free relay with Greg Borowski, Rothschild, Benecki and Phillips dominated the field with a first place victory.  To keep the Charger victory train rolling, Kyle Ford delivered a win in the 100 back.  The Charger boys finished their side of meet especially strong with a first and second place finishes in the 400 free relay event.  Borowski, Benecki, Rothschild and Phillips captured first place and they were soon followed by Matt Megaw, Chris Shifflett, Kevin Nguyen and Ford in second.

Girls Competition

The Charger girls took first place in 8 of 12 events. The final score of the meet was 178-137.  The Charger girls’ overall record for the dual meet season is now 4-2.

The Charger ladies went out to a fast start with a victory in the 200-medley relay with Shannon Silsby, Becca Yost, Elizabeth Hall and Lauren Bachman setting the tone.  Yost continued her winning ways with a first in the 200 IM.  The girls were especially strong in the 50 free with a 1-2-3 finish delivered by Hall, Bachman and Samantha Reeves.  Iren Tete finished first in the 1M diving event with several impressive dives.  Hall took first in the 100 free.  Maggie Shaw delivered a powerful win in the 500 free.  Leigh Siegfried, Shaw, Alexis Regan and Yost immediately followed with a win in the 200 free relay.  The final victory of the evening was in the in the 400 free relay with Bachman, Shaw, Regan and Hall wrapping up the team victory.

Charger Individual Victory Summary

Matt Benecki (200 IM and 500 free) and Elizabeth Hall (50 free and 100 free) were double event winners.

Mitch Phillips (200 free), Brian Rothschild (100 free), Kyle Ford (100 back), Becca Yost (200 IM), Iren Tete (1M diving), and Maggie Shaw (500 free) were individual event winners.

The Chargers last dual meet of the season will be Friday January 30, 2009 at 8:30 at Oak Marr vs. the Oakton Cougars.  This will be Senior Night when we recognize all our Charger graduating seniors.
