Charger Swim & Dive Defeat Westfield – December 12, 2008
The Charger boys took first place in 5 of 12 events on their way to defeating the Bulldogs. The final score of the boys’ competition was 171-138. After two meets, the Charger boys have an overall record of 1-1.
The first Charger victory of the evening was the 200 free with Matt Benecki scoring the win with a State cut time. The Charger divers then put on an impressive demonstration as Luke Leuterio, Brian O’Connell and Zach Gibson combined to go first through third place to deliver a clean sweep. Benecki then added his second victory in the 500 free with his second State cut time of the evening. Kyle Ford then followed with a win in the 100 back. Greg Borowski, Matt Megaw, Benecki and Brian Rothschild delivered the boys final victory of the night in the 400 free relay.
Girls Competition
The Charger girls faced a very talented Westfield squad but prevailed by a score of 168-141 and took first in 6 of 12 events. The Charger girls’ overall record is 1-1.
Matt Benecki (200 free & 500 free) was a double event winner for the boys.
Luke Leuterio (1M diving), Kyle Ford (100 back) were individual winners for the boys.
Becca Yost (200 IM), Sarah Graupp (100 fly), Maggie Shaw (500 free) and Shannon Silsby (100 back) were individual winners for the girls.
