Virginia High School League AAA State Championship Results – February 8-9, 2008
Charger Swim & Dive
George Mason University - The Chargers sent four relay teams and four individual swimmers in eight events to the state competition for a total of twelve events. Three of the relays qualified for finals and all four of the swimmers qualified in both of their individual events for the final competition. Seventy-one schools sent swimmers to the state championship meet. Overall the boys finished in 7th place and the girls were 13th. Once again, the chargers swam at a record breaking pace. For the third week in a row, Matt Benecki broke the meet record in the 500 free with a new state record winning time of 4:30.16. The boys 400 free relay with Greg Borowski, Stephen Fay, Matt Benecki and Mitch Phillips also broke their own team record for the third week with a new school record time of 3:14.76. And in the 100 fly, Elizabeth Hall broke her own team record for the third week with a new school record time of 57.33.

500 Free – Matt Benecki – 1st - Automatic All-American and new State Record

200 Free Relay - Megan Silsby, Shannon Silsby, Leigh Siegfried and Elizabeth Hall – 10th
