Varsity Softball Falls to Centreville

Fueled by a solid pitching performance, the Centreville Wildcats defeated the Lady Chargers 4-0 Friday night in Centreville.  The Lady Wildcats' pitchers held Chantilly to 2 singles throughout the contest and their defense did not allow a Chantilly runner to reach second base.  The common theme throughout this 2010 campaign has been the opponent's ability to produce more with less and tonight's results were no different.  Centreville only produced 5 hits for the game, yet scored 4 runs in two innings with the help of aggressive base running.  Over the two games between Centreville and Chantilly this year, each team has produced a total of 8 hits, yet the Lady Wildcats have outscored the Lady Chargers 8-2.    

Wendy Sloan provided the defense highlights for the Lady Chargers in center field tonight with two running catches, one of which was a beautiful shoe-string catch, that certainly prevented a run or two from scoring.

The Lady Chargers will face the Westfield Bulldogs on the road at 6:30 pm.
