DOUBLE HEADER ROBINSON: 8
The Chantilly Varsity Softball squad opened its 2010 district play on the road with an 8-0 loss to Robinson on Wednesday night. The Lady Rams set the tone for the contest early on as they took advantage of a number of fielding miscues by Chantilly, which was atypical of the Lady Chargers' defensive efforts thus far this season, and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. Robinson added four insurance runs in the sixth inning on a 3-run homer to guarantee their victory, though the Lady Chargers kept fighting until the final out. Despite the final score, the hit differential between Robinson (9) and Chantilly (4) was not as great as one would expect.
The Lady Chargers will now look for their first district victory this Friday night at 6:30 pm against the Oakton Cougars in Oakton.
