Chantilly came out a bit slow, but was able to come out with a win 2-1 at home last night. The first goal was scored off a beautiful header from Morgan Morris, tapped in by Kristen Melchiori. With under 5 minutes to play, Madison tied the game when one of their players stood wide open at the top of the box, collected the ball and slid it underneath keeper Lauren Jancuska. The second half improved a bit, but Madison fought hard to stay in the game. With about 22 minutes left in regulation, freshman Olivia Colella made yet another great individual run down the left flank, turned inside and slotted the ball back to Kristen Melchiori who hit a near post bullet into the back of the net. The Chargers were able to hold off the Warhawks for the remainder of the game, and advance to the next round of the playoffs.
Next up in the Quarterfinals on Thursday, South County 7 PM at home.
