The Boys Varsity Soccer Team earned a hard fought 2-0 victory against Fairfax HS at home on Friday night.  Sophomore captain Steven Mashinski scored both Charger second half goals from the mark in composed fashion.  It was senior captain Colin Eadie’s run into the box early in the second half that forced the Fairfax keeper to make an errant tackle and draw the first penalty kick.  The second take down in the box was suffered by Mashinski himself.

The Charger midfield led by sophomore Kevin McBride and junior Arun Sundaram won the air battle and an overwhelming number of fifty-fifty tackles throughout the game.

The defense served up their first shutout of the season led by senior captain and sweeper Scott Garrison, junior left back Ryan Abbott, sophomore right back Garrett Hutzel, and senior goalie Seeho Lee.  Lee turned away eleven shots, Hutzel and Abbott blanketed Fairfax attackers, and Garrison maintained his signature gutsy defense throughout the night.

The strong performance for the entire eighty minutes gives the boys a 1-1 record in the rugged Concorde District.  The Chargers do not play at home again until May 2^nd against Oakton HS for another Friday night showdown.
