In a rain-soaked and rain-delayed game which was fortunately ended early by the slaughter rule, the Varsity Chantilly Chargers defeated the Washington & Lee Generals 12-2 in 5 innings at McLean High School. Starting pitcher Bill Boyle pitched the entire game for the win. He struck out 6, walked 4, and allowed 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Second baseman Roger Strittmatter led the Charger 9-hit offense, hitting a solo home run in the 3rd inning which hit the top of the fence in left center field and bounced into the parking lot.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, after three batters in a row were hit by pitches, left fielder Kevin McGrath put the Chargers on the scoreboard with a 2 RBI single up the middle.

In the 2nd inning Roger Strittmatter led off with a single, reached 3rd on a pickoff attempt, and scored on a passed ball. After Tim Bollinger drew a walk, he moved to third on a double by center fielder Joe Danehower, and scored on a sac fly by first baseman Brian King.

In the 3rd inning Strittmatter's home run started a 5 run rally. Tim Bollinger doubled and then scored on a single by Joe Danehower. Danehower himself scored after 2 walks (Danny Bates, Brian King) and a hit-by-pitch (Matt Dewitt). A passed ball allowed 2 more runs.

In the top of the 5th the Generals rallied briefly, scoring 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks, until a fly ball to third ended their inning.

In the bottom of the 5th inning Mike Miller led off with a walk, advanced to third on a double by Wes Kerbuski, and scored on a sac fly to right field by sophomore Jamie Danehower. A double by shortstop Danny Bates scored Kerbuski. Two more walks (Brian King and Matt Dewitt) loaded the bases. An RBI single by third baseman Nick Kralles brought the score up to the slaughter rule limit and ended the game.

Contributing to the Chargers' offense were Roger Strittmatter (HR, 1B, RBI), Joe Danehower (2B, 1B, RBI), Danny Bates (2B, BB, RBI), Tim Bollinger (2B, BB), Wes Kerbuski (2B), Kevin McGrath (1B, 2 RBI), Nick Kralles (1B, RBI), Brian King (2 BB, sac fly RBI), Jamie Danehower (sac fly RBI), Matt Dewitt (BB), and Mike Miller (BB).
