Starting pitcher John Colella pitched a complete game shutout Thursday night, getting the win in a closely fought game against the Robinson Rams, 2-0. In 7 innings Colella struck out 7 while allowing 4 hits. The Varsity Chantilly Chargers are now 4-0 in the Concorde District and 6-1 overall.

The Chargers did not score until the third inning. Lead-off batter second baseman Roger Strittmatter reached 2nd on an error, was bunted to 3rd by right fielder Tim Bollinger, and reached home on a single by center fielder Joe Danehower.

Chantilly threatened to score again in the fourth inning after a double by first baseman Brian King, a walk by third baseman Nick Kralles, and a sac bunt by left fielder Kevin McGrath. But a ground out ended the inning.

In the fifth inning the Chargers loaded the bases with 2 outs after a single by Roger Strittmatter, a sac bunt by Tim Bollinger, a single by Joe Danehower, and a walk by catcher Matt Dewitt. A mis-handled pickoff play at first base allowed Strittmatter to score.

Charger offense for the night came from Joe Danehower (3 1B, 1 RBI), Matt Dewitt (BB), Brian King (2B), Nick Kralles (1B, BB), Kevin McGrath (sac bunt), Roger Strittmatter (2 1B), and Tim Bollinger (2 sac bunts, one on 2 strikes).
