(Chantilly, VA)Chantilly dropped a District match-up to the Robinson Rams 7-4 Friday night after leading for most of the game. The Rams scored 5 runs in their final at-bats to pull out the victory and square the season series between the two teams at a win apiece.
 
The Chargers took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning as lead-off man Chris Gentile walked and stole second base. Number three batter Keith Morrisroe also drew a walk and designated hitter Will Christopher followed with an RBI base hit to center field scoring Gentile. Left fielder Patrick Moore drove in the second run of the inning with a double to left. Chantilly added a solo run in the 5th when Gentile led off the inning with a single to center field, advanced to second base with his second steal of the game, and scored following a base hit by third baseman Max Langford and an RBI fielders’ choice by catcher Keith Morrisroe. The Chargers’ final score of the game came in the 6th when first baseman Brian King tripled to right field and scored on second baseman Danny Bates’ sacrifice fly to center. 
 
The Rams came back with two runs in the 6th off Chantilly starter Patrick Somers, sandwiching two walks and two base hits to score 2 runs. Robinson then came back in the 7th inning to score 5 runs off Chantilly’s bullpen, which struggled with its control as it gave up 5 walks, a hit batter, and two base hits to give the Rams the lead and ultimately the victory. Chantilly batters went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning to end the game.  
 
Max Langford led the Chargers offensively, going 3 for 4. Will Christopher and Patrick Moore both drove in runs with hits, Keith Morrisroe and Danny Bates contributed RBIs, and Chris Gentile, Danny Phillips, and Brian King all had hits. The Chargers’ starting pitcher Patrick Somers went 6 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 walks, and 2 earned runs while striking out 9 Robinson batters.
 
The Chargers are now 12-5 on the season and 8-2 in the Concorde District. They play at Oakton on Monday night.
