OSBOURN PARK HIGH: 10
Chantilly ran into the wrong team on the wrong night on Wednesday, losing 10-0 to host Osbourn Park in 5 innings in the Championship of the Let’s Play Two Tournament.
The Yellow Jackets scored 4 runs on 5 hits in the first inning and kept the pressure on all night, racking up 10 hits including 5 doubles and 2 impressive home runs. It was just an outstanding offensive performance.
Osbourn Park also pitched and fielded well, holding Chantilly to 3 hits - singles by Sam Hellman, Sonny Romine, and Eason Recto. Chantilly put several other good swings on the ball, but this was one of those nights where – other than a great sprinting catch by Daniel Speed in right field and some gutsy relief pitching from Eason Recto – good things mostly did not happen for the Chargers. But make no mistake, Osbourn Park deserves a hearty congratulations for absolutely taking it to Chantilly and easily winning this game.
Overall, Chantilly had a very positive experience in the 2012 Let’s Play Two Tournament, winning 3 of 4 games, advancing to the championship, and facing some outstanding teams from outside the Northern Region. Kevin Johnston, Sam Hellman, and Casey Gittings were selected to the All-Tournament team.
Next week marks the opening of Concorde District play. Chantilly (7-2) plays at Westfield on Tuesday, and hosts Oakton on Friday.
