The Chantilly Chargers lost to the Oakton Cougars Friday night in the District semi-final, 6-4. Though Chantilly took an early 4-0 lead, the Cougars slowly chipped away at the score until they finally went ahead in the 6th inning. Oakton offense, which had 10 hits, was also notable for having 6 stolen bases.

The Chantilly batting order batted around in the 1st inning. After leadoff batter Jamie Danehower reached 1st on a throwing error, Collin Ryan bunted him to 2nd. The next two batters, Ben Langford and Kevin Johnston, who were both hit by pitches, loaded the bases. A Sam Zimmerman single brought home Danehower. A dropped third strike allowed Sonny Romine to reach 1st and Langford to score. A walk by Jake Acosta scored Johnston, and a single by Connor Major scored Zimmerman. After the 1st inning the Chargers put runners in scoring position twice but added no further runs.

Chantilly offense was led by Kevin Johnston (2 singles, HBP) and Ben Langford (2 singles, HBP). Also contributing were Connor Major (single, RBI), Sam Zimmerman (single, RBI), Jake Acosta (walk, RBI), Sonny Romine (RBI), and Collin Ryan (sac bunt).

Starting pitcher Will Bashaw (2 K, 2 walks, 9 hits, 95 pitches) went 5-2/3 innings. Caleb Reinhardt (1/3 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 0 ER) pitched in relief.

Chantilly plays in the regionals next Friday against a to-be-determined team.
