The Chantilly Chargers ended their post-season run Friday night, losing to the Yorktown Patriots, 7-1. Patriot offense had a 5 run 1st inning, from which the Chargers never recovered. The game was notable for a 1-1/2 hour rain delay, with an impressive lightning show which sent everyone to their cars.
The Chargers' only run occurred in the 5th inning. After Brian Morrow reached first base on an error and Sonny Romine drew a walk, designated hitter Jake Acosta slammed a double down the third base line, scoring Morrow. Patriots' pitcher John Yoest, who pitched the entire game, allowed only 2 other hits. He struck out 11 batters.
Contributing to the Chargers' offense were Jake Acosta (double, RBI), Sonny Romine (single, walk), and Ben Langford (single).
Starting pitcher Dan Lawler (7 K, 7 hits, 1 walk, 5 ER) pitched the entire game.
