The Chantilly Chargers defeated the Pinecrest Panthers in their final game of the Hall of Fame Tournament in Orlando. Though the Chargers were up 9-1 going into the last inning, they sweated out a 5-run rally by the Panthers before sealing the win, 9-6.
The Chargers scored early in the 1st inning. After Collin Ryan singled and reached 2nd on a balk, a double by Ben Langford allowed Ryan to score. A single by Kevin Johnston moved Langford to 3rd, and he scored on a sac fly by Brian Morrow. In the 5th inning the Chargers batted around, taking advantage of 2 fielding errors, drawing 1 walk, and slamming 5 hits to score 6 runs. In the 6th inning after leadoff batter Jamie Danehower singled and Collin Ryan was hit by a pitch, a ground ball by Ben Langford allowed Danehower to score.
Leading Chantilly's offense were Ben Langford (double, single, HBP, 3 RBI), Collin Ryan (2 singles, HBP), and Sam Hellman (2 singles). Also contributing were Kevin Johnston (single, walk, stolen base), Jamie Danehower (single, RBI), Jake Acosta (single), Sonny Romine (2 RBI's), and Brian Morrow (sac fly RBI).
Chantilly defense turned one double play and had one fielding error.
Starting pitcher Dan Lawler (7 IP, 6 K, 3 walks, 6 hits, 115 pitches) pitched the entire game.
At the end of the tournament Ben Langford was named to the "All Tournament" team.
