T. C. WILLIAMS HIGH: 5
Chantilly won its first game in the Hall of Fame Tournament in Orlando on a high note, beating local team TC Williams, 7-5. In the course of the game TC Williams had more hits (8 vs. 5) than Chantilly. It was solid Chantilly fielding and a shakier TC Williams defense which made the difference.
Chantilly offense struck early in the 1st inning, batting around the order, scattering 4 hits and taking advantage of 3 TC Williams fielding errors. Before TC Williams came up to bat the score was already 6-0. Chantilly's only other score came in the 3rd inning, on a single by Sonny Romine, a stolen base, and a single by Jake Acosta. Though TC Williams picked up 3 runs in the 3rd and 2 more in the 5th, Chantilly was able to hold on for the win.
Chantilly offense was led by Jamie Danehower (double, 3 walks), and Ben Langford (double, walk, RBI). Also contributing were Jake Acosta (single, 3 RBI), Brian Morrow (single, RBI), Tom Wood (single, RBI), Sonny Romine (walk, stolen base), and Collin Ryan (RBI).
Defensively, the Chargers had no errors.
Starting pitcher Will Bashaw (4-2/3 IP, 4 K, 1 BB, 6 hits, 5 ER) earned the win. Tom Wood (2-1/3 IP, 3 K, 1 BB, 2 hits, 0 ER) pitched in relief.
