A pitcher's duel between the Chantilly Chargers and the Westfield Bulldogs Friday night was finally decided, late in the game, on a stolen base. Final score was Westfield 4, Chantilly 3.

Chantilly scored first in the top of the 3rd, on a walk by Jamie Danehower, a single by Collin Ryan, and a single by Ben Langford. Chantilly's only other score occurred in the next inning, after a single by Kevin Johnston and a two run shot over the fence in right center by Brian Morrow. Westfield hit solo home runs in the 3rd and 4th innings, and added another in the 5th on 2 singles and a double. But the go-ahead run occurred in the bottom of the 6th when leadoff Bulldog batter Josh Luatua reached first after being hit by a pitch. A sac bunt sent him to second. When Luatua tried to steal third, the ball slipped past the third baseman, allowing him to score.

Chantilly's offense was led by Brian Morrow (home run, 2 RBI's), Kevin Johnston (double, single), Jamie Danehower (double, walk), and Connor Major (double). Also contributing were Ben Langford (single, RBI, HBP), Collin Ryan (single), and Jake Acosta (HBP).

Starting pitcher Dan Lawler put in a valiant effort (6 IP, 7 K, 1 walk, 6 hits, 3 ER, 88 pitches). Westfield starting pitcher Aaron Hoover, like Lawler, also had 7 K's, 1 walk, 6 hits, and 3 ER.
