In a high scoring game Thursday night the Chantilly Chargers lost to the Oakton Cougars, 13-8. Fielding errors and strong hitting by both sides contributed to running up the score.

A lead-off double by Kevin Johnston in the 2nd inning started Chantilly's first scoring rally. Brian Morrow, the next batter, reached first on an error, allowing Daniel Speed, the runner for Johnston, to score. Shortly afterwards Sonny Romine doubled, allowing Morrow to cross the plate. Singles by Jamie Danehower, Collin Ryan, and Ben Langford allowed 3 more runs. The Chargers scored 2 more in the 3rd inning, on a single by Brian Morrow, a sac bunt by Connor Major, a single by Sonny Romine, and a towering double to right center by Jake Acosta, which brought home Morrow and Romine. Chantilly's last score occurred in the 5th inning, on lead off walk by Tom Wood, a single by Jake Acosta, a sac bunt by Jamie Danehower, and an RBI ground out by Collin Ryan. Unfortunately, the Oakton Cougars scored single runs in each of the first three innings, followed by a 6 run 4th, and added 4 more runs in the top of the 7th.

Leading Chantilly's offense were Jake Acosta (double, single, 2 RBI), Sonny Romine (double, single, 2 RBI) and Brian Morrow (2 singles). Also contributing were Kevin Johnston (double, walk), Tom Wood (single, 3 walks), Jamie Danehower (single, walk, sac bunt, RBI), Collin Ryan (single, 2 RBI), Ben Langford (RBI), and Connor Major (sac bunt).

Starting pitcher Caleb Reinhardt (5 IP, 2 K, 6 ER) took the loss. Will Bashaw and Tom Wood pitched in relief.

Chantilly plays Centreville away on Tuesday night at 6:30 PM.
