The Chantilly Chargers defeated the Robinson Rams Monday night, 8-2. Chantilly had 9 hits but also benefited from shaky Ram defense.
Chantilly scored early in the first inning on a walk by Jamie Danehower, 2 errant pickoff throws, and a wild pitch. After Ben Langford beat out an infield single, reached second on a balk, and reached third on a Rams fielding error, he scored on a single by Connor Major to right field. In the third inning, Ben Langford singled, Kevin Johnston reached first on an error, and Brian Morrow loaded the bases with an infield hit. Connor Major then notched another RBI by drawing a walk. In the fourth inning the Chargers had 10 at bats, scoring 4 runs. Three players singled, Ben Langford, Brian Morrow, and Jake Acosta, and three walked. In the 5th inning Jamie Danehower hit a single to left center and reached second on a fielding error. After he stole third base, he scored on a grounder by Collin Ryan.
Ben Langford (3 singles, 2 RBI's) and Brian Morrow (2 singles, RBI) led Chantilly's offense. Also contributing were Connor Major (single, 2 walks, 2 RBI's), Jamie Danehower (single, 2 walks, stolen base, RBI), Kevin Johnston (single), Jake Acosta (single), Tom Wood (walk, RBI), Brady Caslavka (walk), Steve Aanstoos (walk), and Collin Ryan (RBI).
Defensively, catcher Kevin Johnston threw a runner out attempting to steal 2nd base in the 1st inning, and picked a runner off 1st base in the 2nd.
Starting pitcher Dan Lawler (6 IP, 4 hits, 0 walks, 6 K's, 0 ER) earned the win, and is now at 3-0. Will Bashaw (1 IP, 2 hits, 2 K, 1 ER) pitched in relief.
The Chargers next play Oakton at home on Friday at 6:30 PM.
