Chantilly defeated the Loudoun Valley Vikings 9-4 on a cold, sunny Saturday afternoon at home. Charger offense produced 10 hits, 3 of which were home runs.
Chantilly scored early in the first inning after a single by Collin Ryan, followed by a 2 run shot by Ben Langford, which sailed over the fence in left center field. In the 3rd inning the entire Charger lineup batted, producing 5 hits and 5 runs. Three of those runs occurred on a blast by Sonny Romine, whose home run cleared the scoreboard in left field. A solo home run by Ben Langford in the 4th inning, over center field, and a double by Jamie Danehower in the 6th, followed by an error and a wild pitch, tallied 2 more runs to Chantilly's total.
Charger offense was led by Ben Langford (2 HR, 1B, 3 RBI) and Sonny Romine (HR, 2 BB, 3 RBI). Also contributing were Jamie Danehower (2B, 1B), Tom Wood (2 1B), Kevin Johnston (2B, RBI), and Collin Ryan (1B).
Starting pitcher Dan Lawler (4 IP, 7 K, 0 BB, 2 hits, 0 ER, 65 pitches) earned the win. Chris Fraser (2/3 IP, 1 K, 3 BB, 0 ER), Tom Wood (1-1/3 IP, 2 K, 1 BB, 0 hits, 0 ER), and Brett Riddle (1 IP, 1 BB, 2 hits, 3 ER) all pitched in relief.
