(Chantilly, VA) – The Chantilly varsity baseball team downed the Edison Eagles 13-1 Thursday night in the Charger’s 2008 home opener.  Chantilly banged out 10 hits to support junior left-hander Jordan Johnson in his first regular season start, as the team evened its record at 3 wins and 3 losses on the season. 
 
While Edison went up 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning, the Chargers stormed back in their half of the frame with four runs.   Keyed by center fielder Chris Gentile’s lead-off single, Chantilly got RBI base hits from third baseman Max Langford and shortstop Chris Yates, and a double by left fielder Pat Moore driving in two runs. The Chargers added three more runs in the 2nd inning, two in the 3rd, and four runs in the 4th to complete their scoring. Edison managed only four hits and one unearned run on the night. Chantilly’s starting pitcher Jordan Johnson went four innings for the win, giving up 3 hits, no walks and no earned runs while striking out 7. Junior John Colella pitched an inning in relief, giving up one hit and striking out two. Pat Moore led the offense for the Chargers, going 2 for 2 with a double and 3 RBIs. Keith Morrisroe went 2 for 3, Chris Gentile 2 for 2, and second baseman Danny Bates drove in 2 runs. Junior Kevin McGrath also contributed an RBI base hit. 
 
The Chargers open Concorde District play Friday night at home against the Centreville Wildcats at 6:30 pm.
