Chargers Take Shutout Into 7th, Lose 1-0
(Orlando, FL) – Chantilly’s senior right-hander Max Langford pitched a one-hit shutout through 6 innings, but the Chargers dropped their third game of the Orlando National Baseball Classic 1-0 Wednesday morning when the Brentwood Eagles (TN) scored on an error in the top of the 7th inning. Chantilly had several scoring opportunities during the game, stranding runners in scoring position in the 4th and 5th innings, and had two runners thrown out at the plate in the 6th inning. Brentwood’s lone run scored in the top of the 7th after a single, an errant pick-off throw to first base, and a throwing error on an infield ground ball. Chantilly failed to score in the bottom of the 7th. The Chargers’ offense was led my catcher Keith Morrisroe, who was 2 for 3. Will Christopher and Chris Yates contributed base hits, and right fielder Danny Phillips was 1 for 2 with a double. Pat Somers pitched the 7th in relief, taking the loss. Chantilly’s final game of the tournament comes Thursday afternoon against Salisbury (CT).
