Chargers Drop Opening Game of Orlando Tournament

(Orlando, FL) – Chantilly’s varsity baseball team lost their opening game in the Orlando National Baseball Classic on Monday 11-1 to the Olympia (FL) Titans. Defensive miscues and timely Titan hitting put the Chargers down 3-0 after one inning and 8-0 after two frames. The lone Chantilly run came in the fifth after a walk, a hit batter and an error on the Titans second baseman. The Chargers only mustered 3 hits in the game led by 3rd baseman Max Langford, who went 2 for 3, and left fielder Pat Moore, who was 1 for 2. Chantilly’s starting pitcher Patrick Somers went two innings giving up 4 earned runs. Junior John Colella pitched 3 strong innings of relief, giving up 1 earned run and striking out 3. Joe Danehower pitched in relief in the sixth inning for Chantilly. The Chargers play their second tournament game Tuesday against Woodson High School of Fairfax.
