Good pitching, good defense, and timely hitting combined to allow the Chantilly Chargers to defeat the Robinson Rams 5-1 Friday night.
Standouts at the plate included Brian Morrow, who was 3-3 with a double, Connor Major, with a double, a single, and 2 RBI's, Matt DeWitt, with a double and a walk, and Wes Kerbuski, with two singles, a walk, and an RBI. Also contributing were Jaime Danehower (1B, RBI), Adam Fridy (1B), Sam Zimmerman (BB, scored on WP), and Brady Caslavka (sac bunt).
The Chargers' standout on defense was catcher Matt DeWitt, who threw out two runners attempting to steal.
Starting pitcher Will Bashaw (3-1/3 IP) got the win. He struck out 4 while allowing 4 hits, 0 walks, and 1 earned run. Bill Boyle pitched in relief. He also struck out 4, while allowing 1 hit, 2 walks, and no earned runs.
