On yet another rainy night, the Chantilly Chargers defeated the Oakton Cougars on Friday, 13-3. The Chargers got on the scoreboard early, slamming 5 hits in the top of the 1st inning, including an RBI double by Adam Fridy and a 3 run home run by Matt DeWitt. That proved to be all that they needed, as pitchers CJ Irwin and Bill Boyle combined to allow only 3 Oakton runs.

Standouts on Chantilly offense included Matt DeWitt, who had a combined 5 RBI's, Adam Fridy, with two RBI doubles, Sam Zimmerman, with a 3 RBI double, and sophomore Brady Caslavka, who hit his first home run, a solo, 2-out shot in the 5th inning which cleared the right field fence.

Contributing to Chantilly offense were Matt DeWitt (HR, 1B, 2 BB, 5 RBI), Adam Fridy (2B, 2B, 1B, BB, 2 RBI), Sam Zimmerman (2B, 1B, BB, 3 RBI), Brady Caslavka (HR, 1B, RBI), Jaime Danehower (1B, 1B, BB), Ben Langford (1B, BB, HP, RBI), Brian Morrow (1B, BB, RBI), and Connor Major (1B, 3 BB).

On defense the Chargers had 3 fielding errors and turned one double play.

CJ Irwin (1-1/3 IP, 1K, 1 BB, 2 hits, 1 ER) was starting pitcher. Bill Boyle (5-1/3 IP, 5 K, 2 BB, 2 hits, 0 ER) pitched in relief.

The Chargers play the Centreville Wildcats on Tuesday at Chantilly at 6:30 PM. The weather forecast so far calls for partly cloudy skies and a 10% chance of rain.
