On a rainy Tuesday evening in which the sky did not clear up until the 5th inning, the Chantilly Chargers lost to the Robinson Rams 11-5.
The most unusual Charger at-bat occurred in the top of the 4th inning when Sam Zimmerman came to the plate. The 6 pitches thrown to him allowed Ben Langford, who had previously singled, to steal second, reach third on a balk, and score on a dropped third strike. Zimmerman notched an RBI and reached first base safely, both without hitting the ball.
Chantilly hitting was led by Matt DeWitt (2B, 1B, RBI) and Jaime Danehower (1B, 1B, RBI). Also contributing were Wes Kerbuski (2B), Ben Langford (1B, SB), Brian Morrow (1B), Connor Major (BB, RBI), and Sam Zimmerman (RBI).
Charger defense had two fielding errors but also turned a double play.
Sophomore Caleb Reinhardt (1-1/3 IP, 1K, 2 hits, 5 BB, 6 ER) was starting pitcher. Dan Lawler (4-2/3 IP, 3K, 9 hits, 2 BB, 3 ER) pitched in relief.
The Chargers play at Oakton on Friday at 6:30 PM.
