The Varsity Chantilly Chargers ended their run in the playoffs Wednesday night, losing a heartbreaker to the West Springfield Spartans, 2-1. The game went 9 innings and lasted 2-1/2 hours. The game, which had no score until the 5th inning, was finally won on a 2-out, bottom of the 9th, 3-2 pitch. A leadoff single by Kevin McGrath in the 5th inning set up Chantilly's only run. A bunt by Nick Kralles and an error sent him to 3rd, and he scored on a sac fly by Matt Dewitt. The Chargers had runners in scoring position every inning afterwards but were not able to bring any home. Matt Dewitt led Chantilly's offense, with a sac fly RBI and a walk. Also contributing were John Colella (2 singles, walk), Tim Bollinger (single, walk, sac bunt), Kevin McGrath (single, scored), and Joe Danehower (single).
