It took a two run home run by Brian King and a clutch RBI single by Joe Danehower to give the Chantilly Chargers just enough to eke out a win over the Stone Bridge Bulldogs Friday night, 3-2. Their efforts were aided by starting pitcher John Colella, who threw a complete game 1-hitter.

Danny Bates (double, 2 singles, walk, scored), Brian King (home run, 2 RBI's), and Joe Danehower (single, RBI) led Chantilly's offense. Also contributing was Kevin McGrath (single, stolen base, scored). Tim Bollinger, John Colella, and Roger Strittmatter all drew walks.

The only Stone Bridge hit occurred in the 6th inning when Bulldog starting pitcher Johnny Bladel slammed a home run over the left field fence. Otherwise Colella was lights out - he allowed only 2 walks and 1 earned run, while striking out 9.

Chantilly advances in the regional playoffs by playing TC Williams Monday afternoon at 4 PM at Robinson High School.
