Chantilly's Friday night 5-2 loss to Robinson came full circle in the bottom of the 8th inning when starting pitcher John Colella came to the plate. Colella, who had struck out 17 batters, himself struck out to end the game. In an amazing performance, Colella at one point struck out 8 in a row, and in 6 of the 7-1/3 innings that he pitched was able to prevent a runner on third from scoring. But he was not able to hold on in the 8th, when he gave up 4 runs. Starting Robinson pitcher Austin Freer, who also pitched the entire game, allowed only 6 hits for the win.

Brian King (double, RBI) and Danny Bates (2 singles, RBI) led Chantilly's offense. Tim Bollinger (2 singles) and Joe Danehower (single) also contributed.

John Colella gave up 9 hits, 3 walks, and 4 earned runs. Nick Kralles faced 3 batters, allowing 1 hit. Bill Boyle faced the final Robinson batter.

Chantilly plays at either McLean or Stone Bridge on Friday night in the first round of the Regional Tournament.
